All these dudes bitching about Kayle's rework...why?

chipndip1··8 votes·2,873 views

Riot's constantly told to NOT remove champions from their "OriGiNAl IDenTiTieS" when doing VGUs. No one thought to themselves that maybe just maybe not all original identities are worth preserving in 2019?

Here's hoping they don't fuck up Morde and actually fix his problems with that rework instead of pulling another Nunu for the 3rd time in a row.

Just curious, wasn’t that essentially the idea behind what was done to Yorick and Poppy’s old kits and how they were reworked?

Ralanr1 votes

That’s generally the idea behind most reworks imo.

What was her original identity? Not being a champion when her e is down? Being a ranged Trynd? Seriously what was it? Now she's at least a scaling hyper-carry who isn't going to just auto win lane because she turned on her e.

Yeah, basically this comment sums everything up lol

Nobody ever acknowledges how Kayle single handedly broke or abused every on-hit or attack speed item if it wasn't made with her in mind (See: Runaan's, Rylai's, Devourer, etc.) or how oppressive she was to lane against if you were melee. Q for slow, auto>auto>auto, heals off the damage you dealt to her.

Not saying new Kayle is perfect because I haven't played her yet but the old one had such glaring problems that everyone overlooks because nostalgia is fun

Her shred passive was also a reason why she was so damn good at being a lane bully. And it transitioned extremely good into the mid-late game because all she had to do was auto attack somebody to make them take a shit ton of damage.

Unironically yes.

Old Kayle didn't win lane all that much, either. This Kayle's laning is straight garbage, and her late game's straight indescribably ridiculous. How is any of this good for League?

LTK KoRo2 votes

sadly for us old kayle had like a 50% E uptime at lvl 1 and it only rise

and old Kayle didn't win lane that much but due to her old E she was going even in a lot of lanes which she should have been losing. Melee lane bullies were really borderline useless vs her

AP Jayce I guess... such a big ole bully her range was stripped for the entire lane phase. IDK I guess she needs a taste of her own medicine.

I view her passive as doing hard time for the first 10 levels. she has to for being such a bully. when she gets out at lvl 11, she's let loose back into a new world with new possible farm and gains ...and at 16 she's a ripped monsters, not even subtle about it. everyone knows she's on steroids. she was lookin a little skinny comin out the jail cell, but all of a sudden she hits lvl 16 and she's 5 foot wide.

Yea, some old champs barely had personality, or just an impossible to balance kit

I loved old urgot, but I also recognized the fact his entire kit basically had 0 counter play to it

New Urgot was needed, old one had no way to be salvaged, although I miss the endless phlegm coughing and straight up dying during idle animations

Yea. Reworked Kayle is very close to the old Kayle compared with many other reworks tho. Her ult is pretty much the same, W too and Q. All with just some few tweaks tho. Just her e and passive is kinda different.

FioraWillCarry1 votes

Not even close. Old Kayle and new Kayle are completely different champions. Putting a dress on a pig doesn't make it a woman, just a pig with a dress.

Compare her with reworked Urgot, Aatrox, Akali, Irelia or maybe even nunu and tell me they are closer to their old champions then the reworked ones. Morgana would of course be closer to her old identity and maybe there is some one else, but except from that she in** identity** then most of the other reworked champions. Doesn't mean she is like her old identity, but I still think it's pretty close. Her core stayed intact. Hybrid melee/ranged aa reliant champion that kept most of her Q, W and R abilities. Sounds pretty close too me. The big thing that changed was her passive, which is still true to her melee/ranged hybrid fantasy.

Old Kayle played like a duelist. You played her similarly to how you'd play Tryndamere or Fiora. This new one can't be played like that at all. New Kayle feels more like a marksman only much much weaker.

who wants to bet that kayle has a prestige skin in the pipeline, and she will get buffed around the same time to not have as bad of an early game and will completely terrorize the rift for a couple of weeks?

Something like that will shake my faith in Riot quite hard.

Well, in the aspects of Riot that I normally trust them in.

80% chance that riot overbuffs her in the next 2 patches followed up by being overnerfed over the 4 patches after that.

I was ALMOST with you until you started complaining about Nunu. His Rework did a helluva lot to make him viable, fun, and competitive.

Nunu isn't viable. He's one of the jungling picks that hasn't been nerfed in some fashion after all this time of shaving power off of junglers, leaving him relatively overtuned in comparison to his peers. He isn't actually good, though.

Fun =/= Good for the game. I'm tired of letting shit designs like Nunu and Warwick slide. Just because those designs aren't as blatantly unfun as Kayle's doesn't mean they're much better.

Champion releases should be good just as much as they should be fun. I'm tired of useless champions that can only be seen as "decent" when you blow their numbers way out the water.

You call Wwarwick a shit design? It's probably one of the best reworks done by Riot, all categories ever. Nunu was also one of the better reworks done by Riot, maybe except for keeping his ult kinda the same.

Were done with overpowered, overloaded kits.

No more champions... No more reworks... Till they fix the entire game... And balance CORRECTLY...

I don't remember kayle having such a terrible early game and such an OP late game. I don't remember kayle being unable to play any role.
