Just some math I did to discredit another thread about Armor becoming obsolete:
I thought this might be interesting. Although it only applies to one scenario, so beware that. Edit: This is only to show Armor Penetration isn't becoming stronger. It can well be that Tanks are still being killed more easily than before, I don't know.
Last Whisper is a UNIQUE Passive:
- 40% BONUS Armor Pen from a Last Whisper item
- 10 from Maw of Malmortius
- 20 from Youmuu's
- up to 30% Armor DECREASE from Black Cleaver
- 7% TOTAL Armor Pen from Masteries
- X from Runes
Riven, I assume, would buy all of this. Let's take a Tank with 90 base Armor and 210 bonus Armor (300 total):
- Black Cleaver reduces armor to 210 (63 base + 147 bonus)
- Pen 14,7 from Masteries
- Pen 30 from Items
- Pen 58.8 from Last Whisper
- Total: 103.5 Pen
- 210 -- 103.5 = 106.5 Armor against Riven after she has applied all Black Cleaver stacks
- This reduces her damage by 51.6%
##And now?
- 35% total Armor Pen from Last Whisper
- +4% from Masteries
- 20 from Youmuu's
- up to 30% Armor DECREASE from Black Cleaver
- X from Runes
Tank has 300 Armor, base and bonus are irrelevant
- Black Cleaver reduces Armor to 210
- Pen 20 from Youmuu's
- Pen 117 from 39% Armor Pen
- 210 - 137 = 73 Armor against Riven after she has applied all Black Cleaver stacks
#ERMAHGAWD Riven does more damage NOW !
##Let's try this on Marksmen, shall we?
Marksman has 91 Armor (82 base and 9 bonus):
- Black Cleaver reduces armor to 63.7 (57.4 base + 6.3 bonus)
- Pen 4.46 from Masteries
- Pen 30 from Items
- Pen 2.52 from Last Whisper
- Total: 36.98 Pen
- 63.7 -- 36.98 = 26.72 Armor against Riven after she has applied all Black Cleaver stacks
- This reduces her damage by 21%
##And Now?
- Black Cleaver reduces Armor to 63.7
- Pen 20 from Youmuu's
- Pen 28.84 from 39% Armor Pen
- 63.7 -- 48.84 = 14.16 Armor against Riven after she has applied all Black Cleaver stacks
#Conclusion: This is at the very least a nerf against late game damage dealers. So flame about that instead of just assuming everything is OP.
