Maokai is Underwhelming

Been learning him.. He seems to be a tank that procs his healing throughout fights.

The downside is that the little shitter needs half a build to stay alive or even deal damage. Does anyone still play this guy?

Maokai was a victim of many nerfs when he was top tier top laner a few seasons ago. They actually changed his ultimate (used to be a damage mitigation ultimate) some years ago which...didn't really help. Ultimately, most tanks are struggling right now, they need their items to actually be tanks, and poor Maokai is a victim of that. Which is a shame, I really miss jungling with him, but I guess I'm still stuck in S2.

Ah. That def explains it... All the sites say to go tanky, but I was dying so easily in fights that I figured AP was the way.

And it felt better... But the damage was still lacking

I've had a few games recently where I played him. He is not the greatest but if you have a team behind you your ultimate can be devastating.

I've been building item 1419 + item 3110 giving me some 1v1 potential

If you don't know, he's suffering from an intentional-nerf rework because he spent several seasons at the very top due to his old, completely overpowered ultimate.

I miss those team fights where is was an actual fight and took more than 3 seconds. I never look up old league videos. I appreciate you posting this

Also, yeah. His ultimate used to be a lot better
