Riot loves nerfing assassins and supports, loves buffing mages

An article I saw linked to on another forum.

So, riot loves nerfing supports and assassins (fighters too), but can't seem to buff mages enough. Their balance team is clueless when it comes to healers (which is why they screwed up Soraka's rework).

Finally it seems league of dashes was a terrible idea from riot as they constantly have to nerf champs with a dash. You know like kalista who dashes after every AA or bard who is going to have a troll dash in the jungle. Good to see the new champ team/balance team doesn't learn a single thing from their mistakes because they seem intent on producing more and more dash champs that will keep giving them headaches. Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and hoping for a different result.

I could see this internal conversation going on:

Karma: This is the balance team, can we have a word with you guys in the new champ team? LeeSin: What do you nerds want? Karma: Really mature way to start things... LeeSin: I can't help it I'm pro enough to make new champs while you guys suck Karma: If you guys were so pro, why did the overlords handcuff your ability to make new champs? LeeSin: Cause the overlords are stupid enough to listen to you nerds Karma: Would you please stop calling us that? LeeSin: Whatever dweebs, what are you bothering us about? Our time is precious and stuff. Karma: I highly doubt that. LeeSin: No really. Lately we've been trying to egg on CertainyT to go into full awesome mode for his next champ design. Karma: Oh please no. LeeSin: Oh please yes dweebs. We've been showing him crazy fight scenes, broken magic the gathering cards, spiking his drinks, and easily exploitable mechanics from other games. You know, the usual. Karma: I hope you are doing something illegal I can call you on. LeeSin: Don't worry dweebs. It's just some hard liquor and red bull in his coffee, sodas, and stuff. Overcaffinated drunks are the best champ designers. Karma: I'm starting to get a migraine. LeeSin: Right now he's leaning towards a manaless champ with an ult that is a global dash that does massive damage and resets on a kill or assist. Our codename for it is Katarinakali Shen.
Karma: I'm definitely getting a migraine. Look I need you guys to stop. LeeSin: What are you talking about dweeb? It's going to be awesome. Karma: No it's going to be a major problem. LeeSin: What you talkin bout willis? Karma: These designs are terrible. They are broken. We can't balance them. LeeSin: That's because you aren't pro like we are. Just tweak the numbers. That's what you dweebs were hired for. Karma: Stop calling us dweebs and no. The problem is you are spamming the game with bad ideas like Ao Shin that we literally had to send back to you because we couldn't put him in the game. LeeSin: Ao shin was our best idea ever. Karma: Ao shin was the worst nightmare you guys ever created and since we teased the community now we have to deliver some form of oriental dragon LeeSin: So we'll make the new champ Katrinakali Ao shin then. Karma: No you won't. Your ideas are terrible and unworkable. Even worse is it is rubbing off on other teams. LeeSin: Well, we are both awesome pros and awaesomer teachers. Karma: You aren't. Cass took forever to get right. Not a lot of people like the Sion rework. Soraka who was supposed to be an LCS ready champ isn't picked in the LCS as much as we hoped she would and people hate the new her because her new healing mechanic sucks. Why did they do that? Because the champ rework team wanted to take a champ that morello hated and give it an OP but totally unfun healing mechanic and a too high mana burden. We haven't even released the new Poppy and people are pissed off we are turning their favorite yordle assassin into a tank in a meta that doesn't favor tanks at all. And we are doing this partly because we are too overworked trying to fix your guys mistakes. LeeSin: That's what the PBE is for. You geeks and the PBEers have a week to test the new champ and put it out live. Karma: One week isn't enough to find all the bugs, much less figure out just how broken a new champ is. LeeSin: Not our problem. Karma: Are you guys blind? LeeSin: ... Karma: I want an answer. LeeSin: If you can't tell, we are blinder than a ref on the take. Why are you being discriminatory? Karma: Because your blindness is purposeful, intentional, and is correctable if you checked your own egos.
LeeSin: What? Karma: Have you ever heard of Illusory Superiority or the Dunning-Kruger Effect? LeeSin: No. Karma: Look it up on wikipedia. LeeSin: You mean geekipedia. Karma: Look it up. LeeSin: I'm blind remember. See, I've got this thing over my eyes. Karma: You are cosplaying as your favorite broken champ and that "thing" is see-through fabric.
LeeSin: You geeks are so mean. Karma: At this point, my head is in so much pain I can barely see at all and it's all your fault. Quit it with the broken designs. Now. LeeSin: Ward-jump to safety! LeeSin: (runs into a wall) Karma: (facepalms)

Cute.

I do think you are on point that a lot of champs who people consider OP are mainly strong because of their kits rather, than numbers (Such as Lee Sin). But I don't think it is as bad as you are making it out to be.
