Lucian in the Jungle
As of last game (when I alt-tabbed out and forgot to swap with the ADC who wanted Lucian) I now have a 100% win rate with Lucian jungle, so I am completely qualified to discuss this.
The new changes to leashing coming in patch 5.19 (basically the changes necessary to allow marksmen like Kindred to jungle at all) are very interesting, but here's the thing I noticed tonight: Lucian already has surprisingly amazing clears.
Unlike most of the other marskmen, Lucian's passive encourages spamming abilities so he actually works very well with an early blue buff. Additionally, thanks to his passive, Lucian can very quickly proc the Heavy Hands Krugs buff and stun enemy monsters repeatedly much more quickly than other champions.
His passive also has synergy with Devourer. And since Lucian's ganks aren't amazing, you can just farm up and have a good time!
Why Jungle Lucian if You're Not Going to Gank? I don't gank anyway when I jungle (Nunu main) but I will tackle this one. At lower elos, invasions and counterjungling are rarely even attempted, let alone successful (it's why Amumu works so well at low elo) so basically you have a marksman who is the same as a lane Lucian, but is immune to being harassed, ganked, or killed. Guaranteed CS, and all you have to give up is your first item slot (and honestly, Devourer kind of fits Lucian's dashing and skirmishing style better than IE). The lack of pressure that allows you to reach your late game as a marksman with no fear of being bullied or dying is fantastic.
Sated Devourer is going to Suck for Ranged Champs Next Patch True, but even if it does, that just makes Sated Devourer a better version of Wit's End. Just think of it as a more consistent Stattik Shiv.
Anything Lucian can Do, Kindred Can Do Better Well, I would hope so, after all Kindred is designed for the role. But here are other options if they get banned or picked on the other team. Have fun in the jungle!
a try.
