My struggle with Garen

all Garen has to buy is black cleaver and the gage to be impossible to kill. I get 3 items. am poppy. triforce. the plate and more armor and he is still imposible to kill while all of us are attacking. HE HAS NOT MAGIC RESISTANCE and lux ultimate takes away like literally. a bar of his health. he can outrun you. he can slow you down. he can silence you. he has more damage than you. he has more armor than you. and he has more health than you. as a laner. what is there to be done against garen. as a TOP LANE CHAMPION. what can I do. he can just spam all his abilities + his ultimate and am dead every fucking time. every single time. he was getting 3v1 and 4v1 and he was dying sometimes but before just absolutely destroying everybody and at least killing one of them. and sometimes surviving. I mean hes one of the tankiest tanks and he has extremely high damage if you count what you get out of all his abiltiies + ultimate. what is there to be done about him. does he just counter everybody because no matter who I pick I get raped and the whole team gets raped.. he gets banned every single time in the draft pick. and thats not me. is it saying something about him. he can go under the tower and kill you. get out of there and he still be alive. he doesn't give a shit. what is there to do? I mean am not playing ranked or anything so pretty much there isn't much smart stuff going on you have your lane and you face your opponent until its team fight time. who can go against garen 1v1 and not lose man. I can't farm for shes in lane because hes a beast. he can farm his lane in no time because of that spin move and he will keep you away from going there at the same time. he has no mana. I mean he has one of the best sustainability in the game. all he has to do is get some potions and hes never out of the lane. what can I do here?. I mean what is there to be done when I use all my abilities + my ultimate on him and I have more armor than him. and he still kills me?. with 3 other team mates just throwin doing whatever they can at him. kills me and gets out of danger like a boss. and what skill is required to use garen. man its so hard to hit R. all of his abilities are completely straight forward.

poppy is a lategame champ, she needs 5 or 6 items to be effective, but then she becomes unstoppable. triforce improves burst. garen has a lot of defense. defense counters burst. you built armor into his cleaver. congratulations overall you can say you successfully counterbuilt yourself.

what beats him is sustained damage or poke.

he gets 30 mr from his w and has scaling mr like every melee champ. it also depends on the lux items and if he activated w. again. defense/health counters burst. hes beaten by sustained damage and frequent poke

by the way poppy gains free resistances aswell and hard counters burst herself due to her passive, which is pretty much the strongest passive in the game.

he can actually only outrun a handful of champions in this game. a 30% movement speed buff is a pretty mediocre mobility tool. his q doesnt make him faster than your w. the only way for him to slow you is to itemize into it. there are like 10 items in this game that have slows attached. garen can slow, because everyone can slow.

those are literally his only advantages. he doesnt have more range than you, he doesnt have more in combat sustain than you. he doesnt have more utility than you. and he doesnt have more mobility than you.

and for the record, poppy is in many ways a similar champion. her passive and ult make her ridiculously tanky while she deals a load of damage and is more mobile than him.

early game hes weaker than a lot of people expect. especially before lvl 7. what you can do to him is force him to push the lane against you to make him vulnerarble to ganks or farm passive until poppy really takes off.

and maybe next time you dont want to pick a champion that has almost no early game and is countered by sustained damage like his spin. the small damage ticks make sure that your passive never triggers. even if it automatically halves the damage on his ult.

you could also laneswap against him.

you have a lux on your team. he shouldnt even have been able to move. she alone can kite him around pretty much indefinitely. if he killed you 3v1 you either seriously fed the hell out of your lane to a point where any champ could have dome that, or your team made massive mistakes in fights against him.

hes not a tank. hes a bruiser. his job is to carry and his defense is to offset his lack of range, mobility and hard cc. think of him more like a tanky yasuo without dashes, range a windwall, an aoe knockup and lifesteal.

pretty much any ranged champ with cc counters him.

and there are a bunch of melees that go even. none of that matters, because i have the feelig youre still learning how to play the game, and know nothing about lane dynamics and when to avoid frequent fights.

ypu need to elarn how to push a lane into a good position for you depending on the champion you play, and his powerspikes. poppy for example is a champion that wants to farm until she becomes absolutely broken lategame. what you dont want to do is keep pushing the lane into an enemy thats stronger than you, and repeatedly take losing trades against him.

His laning has been nerfed in every aspect without exceptions. He has no slows. His silence is single target, melee and has a decent windup. His regen is weak to poke.
