Can Someone Explain Lethality?

>LETHALITY - Flat armor pen has been changed to Lethality. Lethality is similar to flat armor pen but it scales with opponent's level. More information available [here]. From context thread - "Lethality now gives the owner flat pen split between a base amount, and an amount that scales with the target's level.

The current formula is 0.4X + [((0.6X * Y)/18) = Flat Penetration Amount], where X is Lethality and Y is target champion level. This is very much subject to change as we start getting a lot more balance information."

So what im getting from this, is that if I buy lets say a item 3142, I would not get all 20 lethality until the enemy is level 18?

Yes, with lethality, 60% of the flat armor pen you would have gotten is based on the opponent's level, while 40% you get regardless of their level. The change is designed to make assassins less snowbally and to allow higher amounts of lethality to work in the game and on single items.

So id have about 12 armor pen if I bought Youmuus then? Would that apply with runes as well?

Well, you'd have 8 armor pen plus up to 12 when they hit level 18.

I think flat armor pen runes aren't being changed to be lethality runes, though who knows, maybe they change them when they update the rune system later on.

40% of it is straight up always there. The other 60% is then multiplied by the percentage of the target's level compared to level 18 (18/18 is 100% level, 9/18 is 50%).

Uncertain how this works with URF where you can get past level 18.

Basically.

You have two values that you use with lethality; the base and the scale. The base is 40% of the lethality amount, so for 20 lethality that would be 8. You always get these 8 points. The scale is the 60% that's left over, and that's divided up per enemy level, so in this case it's 12, and that's divided up into .666... per target level. So a level 4 enemy would give 2.666... pen in addition to the base 8 for 10.666...total.

So it means that lethality is a good buy even if you're under-leveled, because it will scale with your opponent's level. If they're higher level than you you'd get more pen vs them.
