Sona W Change

I was just wondering what other Sona lovers would think of this change to W. I have my own reasoning but instead of blathering on about "this is like this because this" and "that is like that because that" I figured I'd let others come to their own conclusions. Please ask questions. I love feedback and welcome a chance to discuss the current state of her W and what (if anything) could be done to improve it as I feel it is a really weak part of her kit right now.

W

COST: 80 / 85 / 90 / 95 / 100 MANA

ACTIVE: Sona heals the two most wounded nearby allied champions (could be herself if one of the most wounded).

HEAL: 30 / 60 / 90 / 120 / 150 (+ 30% AP) (+20/+40/+60 (From ult passive))

AURA: Sona and tagged allied champions receive a shield lasting the duration of the Aura (ends if she switches to another Aura) that is equally divided between all shielded when they are first tagged. When another allied champion becomes tagged the new champion's shield is taken from all active shields equally to add to their shield.

SHIELD STRENGTH: 60 / 130 / 210 / 300 / 400 (+ 100% AP)

POWER CHORD - DIMINUENDO: Power Chord reduces its target's damage output by 20% (+2% ap) (+ 2% for each ally currently shielded) for 3 seconds.

I have zero idea why her shield doesn't even last two seconds and can barely protect anyone against a single auto.

Not. Even. 2. Seconds. For 80+ mana. Really?

That's one of the reasons I feel her W is in a really weak spot. Her current shield only lasts for 1.5 seconds. With my change it can last until the Aura goes away. With this change her shield can last up to 3 seconds +0.5 seconds for each tagged champion.

Also her healing scales with missing HP% why prevent damage with a shield at all if you get a more powerful heal with missing HP? That seems like a very counterproductive scaling on her W.

The 80 mana cost at 1 is the other reason I feel W is in a really weak spot. It's so weak compared to other abilities for its cost. Taric heals himself and his ally for 60 each +30% ap +5% health and he can heal just himself for 40% more for 60 mana.

my question is:

why the actual fuck didn't they make the shield scale with the tagged champs in the first place? that makes so much sense.

I know right? She has the numbers to play with that is for sure, she can currently shield for 775 (+100%ap) but only if she tags everyone. She also heals for 310 (+60%ap). This is similar to how much damage she brings which is 900 (+200% ap) on her Q. Getting these numbers more focused on fewer teammates should be an ideal way to focus her strengths and make her play style one that really focuses on positioning more then any other champion as she needs to be careful who she tags when depending on which Aura she has.

I like the aura idea, reminds me of echoes, which fits her as a musician. Shield strength's ratio might be too much, I'd hate to see much scaling for sonas going AP.

The high scaling and numbers were high with the idea of balancing for two players getting the shield in which case it reads more like two champions get 30/65/105/150/200 (+50% AP). It is very powerful on just Sona if she is looking to trade with an enemy or gets leaped on. I liked the idea that the power of the shield is more in control of Sona. Should she shield herself to save herself from dying? Should she shield just the ADC? Should she shield the entire team to give them all the Ardent Censor bonus? My original thought was for it to be 100/200/300/400/500 but I worry about mid/top Sona being too unkillable and the healing becomes a lot weaker when the shields are that strong or at least I feel it would have to.

I like the aura change! imo the ap ratio on her shield strenght is a bit too high, I mean I think even 50% AP would be enough imo

edit: nvm I saw that reply from you done earlier. Though, i understood it like, sonas shield strenght scales with each allies she shields?

Yep, she scales backwards with how many she shields. So the shield becomes weaker the more people she tags with it. It becomes an average shield of 200 (+50ap) when it is two people. With 5 people it is really weak at 80 (+20%ap). Her shield is significantly weaker in teamfights which is why i felt the buffed healing was a good trade.
