Why Control Mages are the Best Supports

The support community has always complained about being perpetually behind in xp, and over the past few months Riot has introduced ways to not fall behind in xp but still do support things. This has actually empowered MAGES in the bot lane rather than true supports. The support class was initially designed to function when behind. Their kits are built around 1 point wonder crowd controls or through empowering others through low scaling, high base power shields, heals, etc. that don't require them to keep pace in xp with the rest of the game. However, now that the support role scales very similarly to the adc in xp, and that gold income has risen significantly from seasons past, the design of their kits is fundamentally compromised and control mages simply do their jobs better.
