They are reactionary bans instead if you chose to use them as such.

And it is more then likely going to end up like this for everyone and not just competive.

Pros?

You can try to screw up the enemy teams champ synergy. Get rid of janna when they get Yasuo or stop the Ori cow ball delivery You can target ban something that the enemy team has not picked yet. Enemy jungler not picked? Ban that Lee and Hec since they are still up and your team already got Vi.

Cons?

You can not be more likely to out right ban Yasuo or any other champ every game. This is not even really a con in my opinion but I know a lot of people will be bitching about this not being the case.

Let see how it plays out

I'm fine with the professional play being the Ban 3 - Pick 3 - Ban 2 - Pick 2 but when it comes to everyone else it should just be everyone gets a ban and bans before picking. Yes if this goes through for us as well, we would have 2 more bans but it's only going to be useful for banning certain champions that you are afraid would make their current team comp better...Yes that does add a little more strategy in the ban phase for us now but the problem of there being way way to many strong picks that need to be banned are still going to be a problem.

How I see it. Ban 3. goes out. Then you just snag up whatever broken is left before the last 2 bans since almost no one in lower elos is going to even understand comps enough for it to be used strategically. Like If lee sin somehow makes it through the first 3 and isnt picked im still banning lee sin.

This is basically why I wanted this kind of pick ban phase.

I want the last 2 bans to be more meaningful and thought out then the first 3 which tend to be "this champ is annoying/OP"

Now it will be a case of "these are the 2 best marksmen left and and the other team does not have a marksmen yet"

Pros: Probably more useful for dealing with OP champs when you consider what champs are left. (Enemy still need an ADC, okay I'll ban vayne. or ziggs if people hate that pick) Also, I don't really feel the need to compulsively ban certain champions because their OP. If you do, your only going down the tier latter, and not really evening the odds. It's also strategic in a sense that you can focus ban around your own comp. (If say your comp is looking to split push, you can better ban the champs who counter split pushing)

Cons: Those targeted bans put more pressure on the final picks. That may not be what Riot want's when creating the YoloQ experience. You can't expect newer players to have a ton of champions available for each role, and with auto fill, you might get a role you only have a hand full of picks for. (I know people hate auto fill, but people should have at least 2-3 good picks for each role.) But with the focused bans, the last pick may run out of options, and that becomes particularly aggravating if they are also expected to round out the comp.

I am kinda surprised that they do not require players to have 40 champs before playing ranked.

Considering that level 30 much less of a grind these days.
