I have both Irelia and jax on mastery 7......both are among my most played and i can tell you, neither actually takes much skill beyond knowing combos and relative damage when the matchup is favorable.
Jax especially is stat checky and simple in the way he works, Irelia takes more effort but if you know what her abilities do and can consistently land her E then its not so difficult either....rather i find most ranged matchups on her to be easy......for many as long as your arent horribly behind you just autowin post 6.
Ranged will never leave top as long as there are melee countered by them, just as "support mages" will never leave botlane as long as they can poke and eventually combo some ADC to death.
Botlane threw a fit because like only 2-3 outa 17 were playable and they can only play that one role due to support dependency, compared to say Jax, Camilie, jarvan or hecarim who have two lanes to choose from they really have the right to complain.
Midlane......is throwing a fit because irelia spanks mages and assassins, just like how botlane complained when some mages rolled in and started chasing out a number of marksmen out of the lane.
Then i actually want to dig into some of your earlier claims as well.
0 impact on the game? As if botlane has any until lategame either? Midlane and jungle roaming about is who decide if no one gets fed before them
50/50 matchups? Bullshit, toplane is extremely hit or miss in many matchups due to how many counterpicks there are for anything, and you dont have to be aggro at all times unless looking to snowball but for who is this not the case?
You dont win by doing nothing........unless your enemy is some manner of case that falls off like a rock off a cliff.
Easiest to camp? Ridiculous, nothing is easier to gank than a immobile mage when they are even slightly out of position, these guys are squishy, slow and their skillshots are easily forced out, quite often they can even be towerdived if you have a lee sin or hecarim.
Then toplane is even with botlane in terms of being "easy", after all botlane spends a shitton of time sabotaging eachother´s wards to the point where neither side has any quite often-
Herald is insanely strong if used well, two towers down in 13 minutes with only one kill on some poor bloke is entirely possible.,....and in a matter of 2 minutes, then the enemy side basically loses control of the nearby jungle.
Too many picks......well yeah, juggernauts as a class with some individual differences basically have the same "weakness" of being utterly useless in lane against a handful of ranged champs that vary depending on juggernaut in question.
So you have like 10 ranged picks existing there just because of that, along with 10 divers, 3-4 skirmishers, the 10-ish juggernauts, 3-5 tanks, another like 10 unique picks like Singed, GP&gnar.
As long as your champ is good enough 1v1, isnt too damn useless early and isnt too easy to gank then they work there.
But who counters the melee who counters ranged? Other melee most of the time, thus creating a spiral that draws in more and more champs-
People tell me marksmen are privileged and stuck up fellows who complain about everything, but then i see posts like this from toplane and i start question reality.
Because i dont think i see anyone else ever complain so endlessly about the junglers, they are the ones who tend to rage the most when ganked and go on about some 1v1 thing and the ones who tilt the easiest if hit by more than 2 ganks.
Even the midlaners who get towerdived just go like "need help midlane", toplaners meanwhile? "R%%%%% jungler no ganks/help/countergank while im being camped".
The same toplaners who push like they´re giving birth most of the time, leaving them wide open, always leaves me speechless when i see a toplaner start raging at our jungler about not ganking when the guy dies under the enemy tower.
Botlane? The ones who get hit by 2 man roams the most out of anyone? They tend to just say "4 man botlane team afk?" but nothing more really.
