For all the Akali mains out there

I would like to hear your thoughts on her recent changes. In case you missed them:

Twin Disciplines (Passive) - [reworked into a two hit passive]: Now gives Akali's next two attacks bonus effects (base values scale with lvl) then goes on cooldown. First strike restores 10-170 (+70% bonus AD) health. Her second strike (within 4 seconds) deals 14-70 (+45% AP) magic damage. Cooldown for empowered attacks is 8-5 seconds based on level.

Twilight Shroud (W): Now teleports Akali to cast location and leaves a shroud where she was before. Range = 250 Cast time increased to .35 from .25 Duration changed to 4/5/6/7/8 seconds from 8 seconds at all ranks

Crescent Slash (E): Cooldown changed to 5/4.5/4/3.5/3 from 5/4/3/2/1 Damage changed: NEW: [70/100/130/160/190 (50% AP)(70% Bonus AD)] OLD: [30/55/80/105/130 (40% AP)(60% total AD)

Shadow Dash (R): Damage changed to 50/100/150 (+25% AP) from 100/175/200 (+50% AP) Cooldown changed to 2 second at all ranks and is no longer affected by CDR from 2/1.5/1.

Personally i feel a bit sad that her passive is getting changed. It was one of her signature identities to be one of the few spell healing AP champs. Now she just heals on-hit like every other champion. Plus this greatly reduces her dueling capabilities overall.

Also i find it weird that they chose to shift her power from her R to her E. During early-mid game Akali rarely uses her E more than once during a duel to the high energy cost at early ranks. Its more beneficial to save the energy for another Q. This shift in power could really lower her post-6 power.

Thats just my two cents on Akali changes. I would like to know what pure Akali mains think of her changes, since Akali changes have been demanded since Season 4.

they're probably gonna nerf her E soon which sucks since her ult got nerfed too, i don't really understand the new W but i mean i'm kinda new to akashi but i think she's still strong, maybe a bit more Q damage but tbh i don't feel all these changes were needed

True. The passive i can understand but everything else just seems redundant

She will be worse imo and people will continue to rarely play her because other assassins have a better laning phase. This new mode creates a scenario where it is no longer useful to be tank akali so at least they can balance her with some number tweeks at some point and not worry about that abuse.

They did fix people not being able to drop a pink ward in her shroud and a little better wave clear. They made her an assassin that is slightly worse at assassinating people. She is an AP champ that now has to use autoattacks to create her biggest damage moves (for her passive and to proc her mark.) If I had to guess, I would say you will start seeing her more in the jungle in a diana role where she can afk farm until 6 and then really engage hard for ganks.

I agree most likely akali jungle will become a thing. With her R nerfs i doubt she has the damage to successfully kill an enemy once she hits 6 like before. She'd probably need some help with it. And with her slightly stronger healing early game she can easily jungle farm.

I appreciate Riot addressing the binary nature of shroud. Akali no longer gets fucked by pinks. In return, I knew they'd take away some of her damage. Lets dive into this.

Passive and E receive buffs to Akali's burst, but they reduce her sustained damage. I think this is meant to discourage Tank Akali and reward Assassin Akali. These changes I'm fine with, I can work with, I agree with the intent behind them. However take note the changes on E reduce Akali's waveclear and therefore also her split push. This must be recognized as an overall nerf due to these consequences, so what Akali mains should be hoping for is some kind of compensatory buff to some other aspect of her gameplay like her ability to chase, team fight, or laning phase.

Shroud changes, like I said I appreciate the changes to Pinks. Bad players were hopeless against me since they didn't buy them. Good players shut me down because they did. This change will make akali less pub stomper and more viable at higher level play. Now, the other aspects to the shroud change other than the interaction with pink wards, this is where it gets dicey. I think Riot intended on this being a buff, by giving her increased mobility with the shroud dash. However I'm not sure I'm such a fan. I'f I'm chasing an opponent, I often want to throw my shroud infront of me/behind my target to cut off their retreat with the AOE slow. So depending on the circumstances this "buff" is actually a nerf. Again, I haven't had hands on experience with the proposed changes, but I can forsee situations where I would not like the changes. I think Riot intended this as a buff by giving Akali an escape by having the shroud drop behind her, but like I said, depending on the circumstances it also backfires. I think Riot only sees the positive side of the shroud change hence the increase to cast time and reduction of duration. So the shroud changes, we'll see how I feel about it when it hits live. Till then, I'm skeptical.

Ult changes are what I take issue with. This is where there should be some compensatory buff, not a nerf due to the nerfs to Akali's waveclear and split push mentioned earlier. It really is like putting salt in the wound when you're expecting some kind of compensation somewhere (like returning the e proc q's, or returning the old base damage of Q from 35 at lvl 1 to 75 at lvl1) and instead you get hit with a nerf this heavy to the ult. R does 50 dmg at lvl1. Thats insulting. Halving the damage of R, while doubling the CD of R, and the Cherry on top CDR will not effect the CD of R so you can't do anything as the player to remedy this change forced on you by Riot. Simply put the changes to R break Akali's back. Everything else I like, or am ok with/can work around. But the changes to R, thats the deal breaker. The increased CD nerfs her chase, nerfs her escape, nerfs her teamfight presence. And the reduction of R damage nerfs her mid game skirmishing potential which previously gave Akali her chance to get into games after her otherwise underwhelming laning phase.

To me the shroud dash is a bit overkill. With 3 dashes and a ms boosts akali doesnt really need that extra teleport mobility. Any akali player would know not to stand still after casting it. But yeah, the R nerf is just killer. I dont see any reason why they would nerf its damage. Id much prefer they revert the buff to her E if it meant reverting her R nerfs

Agreed. Akali already has mobility. I'd glady trade the Shroud jump/dash to have R restored to normal damage/CD values.

Akali main, 480k mastery points, in 2 of the 4 akali mains clubs. Not happy about what they did with akali. thats just my opinion. Spellvamp passive is gone, So much has changed when nothing needed to be, they just did this so it would fit in with this assassin bull shit. Speaking for all akali mains in the clubs, none of us approve of it.

Glad others think so too. They're just putting random numbers on her and seeing how it goes. Im hoping this will lead to more positive future changes in Akali,
