Ivern Q has insane potential
This is a root that let's allies dash to attack range. I'm pretty sure this is the only ability that does anything even remotely similar to this besides Kalista Ult or Ryze Ult or Kled ult or Tahm ult, all of which are highly telegraphed and ultimates. It's a basic ability that completely negates an inherent weakness in many champions.
Ex.

These champions are restricted to engages that are typically reliant on summoner spells or the enemy team being strictly out of position. With Ivern, this is removed completely with the use of one Q and these champions are much more reliable. It makes it imperative for a carry to dodge his Q's. Illaoi and Darius, both team fight carries, now can get right into the backline and then flash if necessary to get onto the carries. This is such a godsend that it is scary.
Even other champions like
mega
all have their engage made infinitely easier based on one skill shot. Several can cover the needed distance without using their gap closer (Wukong doesn't need to E, Amumu doesn't have to Q, J4 doesn't have to Flag n Drag, Sejuani doesn't need to Q) or they can cover a much larger distance than normal (this is especially true for Malphite) by combining it with their normal dashes, summoners, or ults.
Even raw damage dealers like
all now have a massive tool to get them closer to the backline.
Obviously there are composition issues where some champions like
or
being exclusively junglers and Ivern clearly being intended towards the jungle, but the League community is nothing if not creative and will likely find interesting combinations, even if they are only marginally successful.
Don't get me wrong; I'm not saying this ability is broken on day one. I'm just saying that Riot has created a way around weaknesses for certain champions in one skill, and it has the potential to make Ivern a highly contestable pick and a pick that would bring out other sleeper picks or really interesting wombos.
I listed 30 champions (I think) who could work insanely well with Ivern, and that's probably just scratching the surface. Idk about anyone else, but I'm excited to see what happens.
