I don't see why this isn't more of a thing. His Q makes for great harass, his W can both be used for disengage and tearing towers down, his E gives even more CC. Also, his damage is disgusting if you just get Frostfang and build AP after that. If Brand can be considered a support, why not Ziggs?
swanington2 votesMan I rock ziggs supp pretty often. So much fun! I usually max E first because the slow and damage is insane, but the timing can be tricky. I don't take W until we're close enough to blow to towers out.
My secret build is to take teleport and ohmwrecker. You don't scale as well as a mid ziggs so you get a little lacking in power. But tell that the 7 towers you'll have crushed at the end of the match.

(hopefully this isn't too much of a necro, I've taken a tiny break from the game)
I've tried some of the other mage supports, and sure, while they've got more CC like Vel or Xerath for instance, and probably do more damage like Brand or Veigar, Ziggs has, in my mind, the perfect balance of damage and CC to be played support. I'd also argue that it's far easier to hit his shots than Vel or Brand. The enemy ADC may not be dying too much, but they almost always have to back if the jungler doesn't camp bot, leading to a 30-50+ discrepancy in CS between my ADC and theirs. He also pretty regularly tops damage charts when his build really gets going.
Try it out if you guys don't believe me. If you're in low elo (which 80-90% of the playerbase are) it can work wonders.
