[DESIGN CHALLENGE] Design something to replace Irelia's ultimate

Let's face it: Transcendent Blades is pretty lousy for an ultimate ability, AND it doesn't fit Irelia's fantasy as a telekinetic blade user. The heal is too weak to exist in team fights since it's blocked by armor, and yet heals too much for lane Irelia against minions. Bad gameplay. In teamfights, it's only used as a Sheen proccer, something that could be done in MANY better ways.

If there was any skill in Irelia's arsenal I'd replace, it'd be her ultimate.

The question is, though, what would work to replace it? Any ideas?

Here's my thought: Change it to be more like Akali's Shadow Dance or Corki's missiles in that it has a very short cooldown, but requires charges that build up over time (max. 4 charges). This way, you never really have a "downtime", and aren't pressured into firing all your blades off in a short amount of time.

Also, I'd change the healing on the ult to be based off enemies hit, not based on damage dealt. This would be akin to when Renekton got his Q healing altered because the healing kept getting reduced by enemy armor. Irelia has the same problem, and unlike Renekton she doesn't go for armor penetration (she goes for attack speed and Trinity Force). This change would make her teamfight ult heals actually worth a damn, and could also be used to curb her obnoxious anti-push sustain when she uses it against minion waves.

I'm pretty comfortable with her ult as is, but if I had to change it, I'd make it more of an ult that utilizes her swords as more like swords and less like throwing knives

say, for a short period of time, Irelia's basic attacks get increased range, and apply some kind of on hit effect, like grievous wounds. Her basic attacks also attack two or 3 times instead of just once. The bonus attacks would only apply her bonus physical+ (Maybe AP) as damage, as well as apply any onhit effects or something like that.

I figure the multiple basic attack part is super strong, so the stand alone damage they do should be dipped. The alternative would be to have them do half damage, but then youd have to nerf hiten styles true damage to compensate.

Life steal would also half to be tweaked for an ult like this, but I think this idea would be interesting.

Enabling you to deal multiple on-hit procs to a single target per attack could be potentially broken.

I agree, which is why if this idea where to happen, the extra AA would have to have there damage dipped really hard. I think if that happened, it would only really help her with her hiten style, and effects like black clevers Armor shred and wits end mr steal. Life steal would be the biggest issue tho so idk what to say about that

Devourer with such an ultimate would be broken.

Her ultimate is pretty good. It procs Sheen, it can help you get off Q's from a range. It's very easy to reliably hit all four ults. It's 320 base damage at rank 1 not counting the AD scaling. It's a pretty good ultimate.

The healing seems negligible but Irelia already has innate healing through W.

I think Irelia's ultimate is just fine. It looks kind of underwhelming but it's pretty powerful.

And the cooldown's low.

Seemingly every time I get killed by an Irelia, her ult did the most damage.

The question is, though, what would work to replace it?

The problem is that it really enables her TF synergy. Anything that replaces it will either need to work with TF really well (charge system). I mean I could see her Q moving to her ult with a charge system, but that's mean she'd need a new Q and it'd screw with her laning phase and the ease of her last hitting.

As is, I kind of like it and her kit too.

Irelia gains 3 charges of dashs. each charge deals %maxhp true damage to the 3 closest enemies and heals irelia's neared teammate for 50% of the damage dealt. getting a kill resets the cooldown and gives irelia 15 permanent movespeed, stacking up to a max of 300 bonus movespeed.

Replace Irelia with Akali and you have a kickass reworked ultimate.

Make it an inverted Heimerdinger E so instead of arcing in to a point, they arc outward.
