Is Leona Viable In High Elo?

I main Leona, she got me to gold, and I have about an 80% win rate with her in ranked. I've been looking for high elo support mains to spectate games, but I have seen very few playing Leona.. does she stop being viable at some point or is it just that diamond players generally prefer other supports?

she's viable, I suppose they just prefer other supports. Possibly because other supports can potentially interrupt her dash.

that's true, i have played against a couple of good threshes that knew how to shut down a leona, but not really enough for it to be a threat.. very few people in low elo know how to play him right but the ones that do are terrifying. i suppose everyone in diamond knows how to play thresh.

Honestly whatever you can get to work is viable. The higher Elos like to play the numbers games over skill. Looking at her as a champion she's high CC and tanky both of those things never really get out of the meta.

Now admittedly this is coming from whats probably the last Kayle support main in the NA. I am one of those guys that makes something work and says to hell with the rest of the establishment.

hey, there's nothing wrong with kayle support, i had a kayle spoonfeed me 10 kills as vayne today. god bless her

i'm not saying that if leona isnt good in high elo i'm going to stop playing her, because honestly i would much rather have fun playing my favourite champ than get to plat, but it just seems strange that nobody in diamond usually takes advantage of her amazing CC and damage resistance. everyone in diamond plays really boring supports in my opinion.. soraka .. janna ... just a boring poke lane phase where nobody dies

Kayle support is amazing. I love my Kayle. Just have to work on my build for her. And i'm one of those unranked 30s that still tests other champs in roles most don't. Like Renekton support...been kicked numerous times for that.

There are people like heisendong and shaclone who have been ranked master/challenger by only playing specific champs. You can make anything work is what i would tell you. If you like leona keep going.... BUT

At higher ELO's she isn't as good. you literally can't engage on thresh, janna, alistar, tahm kench, morgana, sivir, draven, or vayne. You will never touch the adc in any of these lanes.

ADC's are very mobile right now. Good ADC's will dodge the ult stun almost every time.

I mained jungle and support up to D5. I played leona through gold and it was the best thing ever. People make less mistakes in the higher ranks and i found picks like thresh and braum to be better all around.

most of the supports you've listed i havent really found to be a big issue. nobody in my elo knows how to shut down a leona right. especially janna, for some reason everyone in high elo knows how to play her really well, and she's an incredibly strong pick, but in gold if i see a janna she just... dies lmao she's so squishy...............

Hard engage and tankiness is always viable. Just don't expect to get fed in lane nearly as much in high elo since you're against smarter opponents.

that's true, a lot of adcs i lane against don't know how to punish after i engage, so i can literally engage whenever my e is up and lose very little health, when i get low i just wait it out and heal with relic shield. squishy supports don't know what to do. adcs either try to farm and get engaged on, or dont farm. i would hope in diamond those kinds of little mistakes arent still made..
