Is AP Malphite not just incredibly unhealthy by design?

IMo its incredibly unhealthy that a champion can do what AP malphite does. Pressing R and kill any champion in a pretty large size AoE is really frustrating to play against. Atleast most assassins have to land skillshots to kill someone, malphite points his mouse in the general area of an enemy and they are 100% dead no amount of MR can save you because the AP scaling on his abilities is nuts. I honestly think he needs some AP ratio nerfs or something because IMO he is the most toxic champion to play against right now, i'd rather play against a shaco in his current state than have to deal witha one shot bot like malphite.

Truth is he's not healthy, but he doesn't _feel _ very problematic unless you're an ADC. Imo, his kit should get an update but he doesn't actually need one. Malphite is very easy to smack around before he gets enough AP to oneshot others, and he's pretty useless after ulting.

idk, I find that he fits perfectly well between all the other unhealthy nonsense we have to deal with.

And malph as an assassin is actually pretty tame for today´s standards.

I mean, Tank Vik was unhealthy but everyone told toplaners to shut their mouths. AP Malph doesnt even come close.

After playing many games as AP Malphite, he excels against teams that just don’t respect him from 6-13.

He’s effective but predictable, and the higher the ladder I went, the more people I’ve seen able to react to his ultimate. You play it a similar way you would play against Fiddle with Crowstorm - wards and Banshees.

He’s a walking R button, AP or Armor. One just scales faster.

ap malphite is pretty much an assassin, you can dodge his ultimate since its a SKILLSHOT and he's fucked from that alone. you either play someone with mobility or just flash his ult. you can even stop watch or spell shield it.

also i can confirm that building MR like maw can fuck over his oneshot unless he's fed to shit.

The problem to me is that he is still somewhat tanky when building AP. He may get destroyed after his ult, but the damage is done. I like being able to build champions different ways. The ones I have a problem with are the ones who are naturally tanky and can build full damage, or the ones who have very high damage and can build tanky. They should be one or the other, not both. It becomes unbalanced quickly.

well what do you think us tank mains have been saying for a loonngggg timeeee. the problem is that a lot of tanks tend to have high ratios and with how the game currently is its just more efficient to build up on that damage to make trades vs just being a punching bag and being reliant on defensive stats and items.

Malphite, in general, is kinda unhealthy. By kinda, I mean terribly so.

ARAM, it is unspeakable the things you can do with him, so I will just skip that.

In SR, you can easily just go tank and out-trade nearly anyone. Fiora, designed to kill tanks, loses to Malphite even at a very high level with skilled Fiora players. It is kinda silly.

He needs an AP-scaling reduction on his ult in exchange for Armor Scaling on it. The reason he's built as AP is because as a tank he doesn't do damage in this meta (That, and tanks suck right now). With a reason to build tank for a bit of damage, he'll be played properly again, but knowing Riot they're just going to straight up nerf his ratios and leave it at that.

If you know how to play around him, he won't be a problem. He's one of my favourite matchups when I play something like Swain . If you are AP build first item item 3027 , second item 3102 ( item 3111 If you want even more MR) and watch him being useless. You can additionally build item 3157 to dodge his ultimate, If you feel like you have too. As an ADC, he's pretty much like an assassin, can't do much about It, but build either item 3163 or/and item 3231 .

blame items and runes. alot of champs are secretly fine without that overpowered stutff. im not complaining about the way he can kill u cuz hes grandfather'd in.
