Lost to a Vlad as Zed....help appreciated

Ben SwoIo··2 votes·2,260 views

This was my first time going against this "new" Vlad (haven't faced him with Zed since the old one). I had no clue how to really play against him. My damage barely did anything to him and whenever I got a decent chunk off, he just derp healed it back. Of course I built an early item 3123, but it didn't seem to help at all. He didn't really do anything special, just harassed me anytime I went in for minions and healed himself back anytime I damaged him. I think it was more me being confused on how to play against him. What's worse is he is a S3 and I'm G5 :/ Hurt the pride a bit, but I know I'm better than that. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

BTW: I was a bit cautious on engaging since I wasn't really sure of his early damage potential. Should I have been more aggro early on? Thanks.

a vlad main just downvoted all of the comments DAMN O.O

It's pretty sad when people downvote posts without even arguing. I suppose that's when people donvote in the first place, when they can't beat you in arguments.

He completely hard counters you in every way. Targeted range poke + sustain against a melee. Untargetability on basic ability versus your ultimate.

Focus on roaming and ganking. You do that better than he does. Get your other lanes fed because you're not going to really be able to do shit to him. Hexdrinker will help make laning more tolerable though.

What kato said, vlad is a strong counterpick to assassins because his sustain helps him win trades, builds hp which makes him harder to burst, and has his W to deny all in-s.

Vlad's a pretty strong counterpick to Zed, but here's what I'm gonna tell you that sounds strange.

Don't rush Executioner's Calling.

The reason is that you're heavily counterpicked, so what you should be doing is getting to 6 and then pushing hard and roaming to help other lanes win because you will be incapable of winning vs. Vlad and you shouldn't anticipate your jungler winning lane for you. EC is only 15 damage for 800 gold, and when you roam you just need a lot of damage because the main goal in ganking is to overwhelm your opponent in damage or CC.

Maybe grab a bit of MR if you're getting poked down before you're even finished pushing but aside from a Hexdrinker just full damage and run off to other lanes because he shouldn't he able to follow a Zed.

There's no need to rush Executioners. Vlad is super easy to beat in lane, all you have to do is back off when his bar goes red. That's is. Fight in between his Q cooldowns after the bar goes down and ezpz.

You dont really. Thats a miserable matchup. I would suggest going item 3155 instead of item 3123. You're not going to be able to use that executioners much tbh.

you need to play around his resource bar.

when it's full and red his next Q will do hard damage and heal him big. that's the point where you want to stay out of his range.

you want to force him into his W without using your Ult.

best is to combo him with W+E+Q and trying to hit all. maybe you can already go in and force him into his W by swapping and aa'ing him.

after he comes out of the W you can Ult and kill him.

in general you should take care of his resource bar and play around his CDs.

playing against a good vlad is hard , because he won't rush and Q you , he will Q minions to get hp back , and auto attack you. I think the only meele champion that "counters" vlad is probably talon because of his passive.

Thank you for the replies everyone. Hopefully I run into another Vlad main that I can give another go at. I honestly felt like I could've definitely played better. Sometimes I get caught up in the whole "I'm an assassin I must kill" thing. Leads to tunnel vision and I end up not out smarting them. Lesson learned. Thanks again!

Zed main for like 3+ yrs here:

1: Poke the shit out of him with Q's early, you do not want him to shove up on you. 2: Take thunderlords and just keep bullying and bullying him

The idea is to fk him up early from lvls 1-3, and if you get a first blood, which should be easy with ignite (Lowers his healing and does a ton of damage early), you'll pub stomp him from their, just make sure that once you hit lvl 6 that, you bait out his pool so he doesn't dodge your ult with it.

if you get a kill on him early. you win. if you dont you lose. rush mortal reminder. the entire item. if you get that and your a little ahead. you can kill him over and over. and get botrk after. and then maw. he becomes no problem, after even late game.

if you don't kill him early you're fucked.
