Yi has high banrate in Silver / Gold elo

SlashStriker··1 votes·977 views

This is the 2nd day Yi keeps getting almost perma banned and I have trouble picking him in ranked

Does Riot plan to do any gameplay update on him cause this is god damn ridiculous

according to champions.gg he got around 49% win rate yet his ban rate is pretty damn high

Why should Riot balance around low elo? Get better.

To be fair, I don't think they should balance around just high elo either. (Which they don't, much to a lot of higher elo people's dismay. XD) I think having large sample sizes through each elo is the best way to adjust champions. That's just my opinion tho. c:

I personally think they should, a lot of low elo complaints start and finish at "This champion beat me, I refuse to learn how to fight him, nerf him Riot."

Problem with that is the largest sample size IS low elo, the weight of their complaints will always be larger. It is never a case of looking at kits, or notice of problems inherent to the champion, it is always a case of circlejerk blind QQ and whining and any discussion about why said champion might have the pluses they have is blown out of proportion. No one ever takes note on WHY champions why what they have and what they lose for it, at least not in low elo anyway.

I agree with this statement, but I don't think it should mean that they should just balance around Higher Elo. The reason being is what you stated in your second statement, lower elo does actually have a majority of players in it. So in this regards we would be satisfying the few rather than the many. Hence why I said there should be sample sizes from each elo.

I meant samples from each elo to take into consideration. I wasn't stating that we should listen to complaints but rather take the gameplay and numbers around each elo and determine what needs to be adjusted where. To be fair, this would be difficult to do, primarily because if you make one adjustment based on lower elo, it will undoubtedly affect higher elo play and vice versa. Hence the reason why it's really hard to balance a game as large as League of Legends. There's quite a lot involved in it. Honestly, I feel ya though. Lots of low elo plights revolve around "Blah blah, OP OP, blah blah." Some people want to have legitimate discussions sometimes, but it's difficult when players rank shame so much. If you're not high elo, your thoughts don't matter. If you're not high elo, you're bound to get ridiculed at some point. Hence the reason for people not actually trying to have discussion and just "blind QQ and whining." Anyone who wants to have a discussion is scared off. The current way of balancing isn't perfect, but I think it's healthier than just saying "High elo gets to dictate what happens in game, so git gud." It's not healthy to a game who has more Low Elo players than anything else. Again, this is just my opinion though.

Eh, I think players should strive to get better, not the game coddle them, but that is just me.

That's fair, I just wish people would take a step back and look at things more.

The main thing to know about getting really good is it takes dedication. Some people aren't really able to dedicate the time needed to get really good at the games, others are just incapable of getting really good (I.E. me. I spend a lot of time on the game and still haven't made it to Gold. XD) I agree, though. It's just not really good to cater to one group and ostracize another. Hence the reason why they will likely keep doing what they are doing.

It seems, for the most part, we agree on a lot of things. People should try to leave bias out of the equation when looking at anything. All Elos included. It's hard to do for everyone, but at least some actually try. [slayer-pantheon-thumbs]

I guess, but I really don’t think that the people who don’t put in the work should be coddled to though, given an ear to be listened to sure, but their demands shouldn’t be final.

I do wish more discussion like this was actually done though.

Yea. I don't think any one elo should have their demands final. Keep in mind that I'd rather it be based on numbers in different elos rather than plights of different elos. Because you can't really fake numbers, but you can have bias in peoples ideas. Outliers are possible with numbers, but those are easy to determine. Bias is harder to determine. Because some people can make a really good point, but it could be a self-serving goal. Maybe it just sounds like a good point and gets a lot of traction because of this, it doesn't mean it's a valid point, but it could be a popular one. Hence, numbers speak louder than words. It's next to impossible to really take bias out of people's thoughts, especially in competitive play. The game can never achieve perfect balance as we have too many creative people in this world that literally look to break a champion. So the best they can really hope for is to try and keep it fresh while taking into consideration what each champion produces in each elo. Ehh. I dunno. I know I'm biased a lot of times. Even in this discussion I can't keep bias out of it because I'm low elo, and kinda defensive. XD I think it's healthy to try and listen to the players sometimes. But sometimes it can be really unhealthy as well. Lmao. I love the game now. Even with all it's flaws, it's still my fav game. <3

Even with those outlier numbers it is hard, Yasou and Yi are perfect examples of that, do you give them buffs to compete properly at the highest level or keep them as is to make the low elo players happy, shit ain’t easy to figure out and finding a happy medium is damn near impossible.

As for that good point thing, yeah this forum has always been blind circlejerk, so anything that follows the current sentiment of hate is getting upvotes no matter what, hell, I’m currently being downvotes to oblivion in a Yasou post for not agreeing with the Yasou OP bandwagon.

The problem with balancing like that however in trying to make everyone happy is that you end up with situations like this, another thing is balancing not just for NA but the world, did you know that while Jhin is seen as subpar here and rarely sees play, in Korea, he is the most played ADC?

Ehh. I dunno. I know I'm biased a lot of times. Even in this discussion I can't keep bias out of it because I'm low elo, and kinda defensive. XD

Hell, I can be bias too, I still fucking and will always fucking hate Shaco, but understand that he does need help even if I don’t want him to get it.

I think it's healthy to try and listen to the players sometimes. But sometimes it can be really unhealthy as well. Lmao. I love the game now. Even with all it's flaws, it's still my fav game. <3

I enjoy it too, just wish the player base would take a bigger step towards improvement rather then QQ.

I am not the one to get better and you did not read all what I said. The reason I make this post is because he is banned way too much in lower elo and I cannot pick him up to play as him

I'm sorry, been dealing with a lot of QQ lately and that came off harsh.

I think a better wording would be, Yi doesn't need adjustments as he is always strong at lower elo and thus will always be banned a lot, if you want to play him more, get to higher elo.

THEY WANT TO PLAY YI BUT HE KEEPS GETTING BANNED

He needs a rework of some kind. He's just a ball of stats that either melts you or doesn't.

Doing that without removing his essence at this point would be hard.
