How do i deal with this?

Lately, i've been getting into the habit of upgrading my trinkets. (YAY FOR ME RIGHT GUYS!?) and i actually feel proud of myself. I have also been buying a selection of underrated items and i find that it has improved my QOL in this game. But i have a problem... Nobody is willing to do the same. Nobody wants to ever build around utility anymore. It's all about damage, damage, damage and more damage. Anytime my team has an afker, I suggest that at least 3 of us should build zz'rot portals to help replace that champion but instead of people saying "thats a pretty good idea" people fucking laugh and continue to complain about "omg its a 4 v 5 we can't do anything so lets surrender". Like to people realize there are other items in the game that can help in these situations? What can i do to convince people the utility is JUST as important than anything else. It's starting to bother me now.

What items in particular? I can only really think of zz portal, ohmwrecker, and maybe like mikaels that aren't pure support items, and give interesting utility. I'm not sure 3 zz portals is the answer to AFKs, but I haven't tried it. I do think people do tend to ignore some of those items, but mostly because people are looking primarily for combat stats. In team fights, zz portals active and passive are useless, this goes for a lot of the utility ish items, like ohmwrecker, it does give ok stats, but you're paying a good amount of gold for those active and passive components. In certain situations they're fine, like if you're going split push crazy shen I can see a zz being alright sometimes. From behind I don't think that these items are great, because you usually want to group and take objectives to catch up, which will result in team fighting. Ultimately those items are dismissed because League is pretty centered around team fighting, as it always has been, and those items don't give as much useful team fighting power as many other items for the same price. Edit: Just reread your question and realized that this isn't really a helpful for your question, but I hope it explains why maybe your team mates could be hesitant to buy these items.
