Champions that need a rework

XIII Vanitas··2 votes·652 views

Big reworks (the champion identity hasn't been transferred into the gameplay): Aatrox Evelynn Irelia Rammus Shyvana Tryndamere Urgot Warwick

Small reworks (the champion identity is there, but the gameplay is too old/isn't enough engaging/could be improved): Akali Annie Blitzcrank Chogath Galio Shaco Swain Teemo _ (I have not included the champions that Riot stated they're going to rework)_

Why do Irelia Rammus and Evelynn need reworks?

Rammus the the only one that confuses me.

And Shyvana.

Shyvana's dragon form doesn't really feel good. Gnar, for example, represents great game design when it comes to a champion that has to manage a fury bar in order to change form.

Irelia is, according to the lore, the daughter of an extraordinary swordsman who owns a magic blade that floats and dances through the air. I think this should be a key aspect of personality, but it's not even remotely explored in her gameplay, except for the projectiles of her ult (which aren't that satisfying). Rammus's abilities aren't really engaging. His Q and E are key aspect of his gameplay, they are unique and fun, but his W and R don't give a good feeling. They are meh. Evelynn is really weird. She should be a vampire/succubus assassin that stalks her prey and sustains through the damage she inflicts. The shield given by her ult could be a hint to that characteristic of her, but her ult itself is an aoe ability that rewards her for hitting the maximum amount of targets, which is something that an assassin wouldn't do. Imo, she needs a rework because she lacks of a cohesive identity.

I agree on Irelia, she doesn't really fit the concept of floating blades with her playstyle (and her stun is annoying as fuck).

Rammus fits his concept well enough. Though he barely has much of a concept anyway, so it is easy to fit in it.

Evelynn is a champion that I'm pretty sure Riot isn't fully sure what to do with. Riot seems to have problems with implementing stealth which affects her the most because she is THE stealth champion (rather than Twitch or Rengar who have temporary stealth mechanics).

Eve has a cool concept, but it's not been developed. This is why I put her in the "big rework" category.

What's going on with this trend to rework all the champions?

Sure, Aatrox suffers and Urgot is horribly old and unhealthy (warwick btw too. but he is going to get a rework. this has been confirmed).

But what's wrong with Eve?!?! and Irelia?!

I answered this question in a comment above this one.

Ok, I see where you are coming from.

You obviously argument from the lore perspective and how fitting a champion's kit is to the personality of the champion. I enjoy some really cohesive and well-rounded champions like Orianna (I personally think she makes so much sense).

But overall I couldn't care less about lore and the story behind. I enjoy playing as Evelynn. I think her kit is really cool and she just happens to be an old champion. Which is OK for me. If anything, I would give her a Visual update to be a little bit more than just a random hooker.

But changing her Kit would probably not improve the champ for me. It would just make me lose the champion I like

Well not true on your 3 part akali will get a bigger rework in the assassin update which will be late in the year , and swain has been said to need a full scale rework also later in the year. I feel galio need a bigger scale rework, but shyvna and trend are in good spots imo.

EidtAfter looking into it irelia will not be touched this year and neither will eve but invisibility maybe reworked in the assassin update

The Assassin Roster Update is not confirmed, just mentioned as ONE of many possibilities...

XIII Vanitas1 votes

True, but there has been no official announcement yet. For example, they also stated that Warwick needed a rework and they were working on it, but the project has been ice-boxed for the moment being.

Irelia Rammus Shyvana Tryndamere Annie Blitzcrank Galio Shaco Teemo don't really need reworks, and changes to them would be better if kept small (Ryze, not Fiora)

as for the rest, you'd be surprised how little actually needs to be changed.

Urgot could retain his Q W E almost entirely as they are, only making smaller changes to them and changing the E-Q interaction while retaining all of the core abilities. his passive and ult are the identity problem he has.

Evelynn really just needs her passive to not be completely overwhelming. all her other abilities are fine. personally i've written up a fix to her passive that just adds

If Evelynn enters within the sight radius of an enemy unit while stealthed, but remains undetected, all enemy champions within 4700 units of evelynn will hear her laughing.

Akali is a pretty small one, i wrote a rework for her that actually retains all of her abilities core functions. (her Q is still a ranged ability that marks targets, auto attack to blow up marks, W is still a shroud cloud, E is still a damage spin, R is still a nice ranged dash, and she still heals from dealing damage) but within those individual abilities i just messed with some things. also i did give her a new passive.

Warwick mostly just needs some of his abilities shifted around. he's got 2 passives, an absolutely ridiculous heal, his W feels like a support ability, and his R is taking up all of the power that he could be using elsewhere so he doesn't just have 2 abilities and an activateable aura. i also made a rework for him.

also there's a great idea for an Aatrox rework here

also WHERE IS Fiddlesticks ??

Rammus needs a big rework because he doesn't have a defined identity. Or, to be more precise, his identity is defined by 2 of his spells (his Q and his E), which are completely fun, but aren't enough according to the current standards. The same thing goes for Tryndamere: he's defined by his giant sword and his undying rage, but that's everything there is about it (and it's quite disappointing). Irelia has a cool concept (a swordsman that weilds a magic blade that floats and dances through the air), but it hasn't been explored in her gameplay (the only hint to hit is her ult and that's it). The other champions that you mentioned were included in the "small rework" category for a reason.

Stephenizgod1 votes

There are only a few champions that legit need reworks, the rest need tweaking and there is a big difference between them.

Taric , Yorick , Annie , Tryndamere

XIII Vanitas1 votes

They are currently working on Taric and Yorick, therefore I didn't include them in the list.

Stephenizgod1 votes

Oh i know i saw that, i was just saying like those 4 are the most toxic/unhealthy champions in the game, gameplay-wise (which is the case for all of them) and identity/thematically (such as Yorick and Annie whose kits dont really fit their lore and identity).

XIII Vanitas1 votes

I didn't want to include only the "toxic" champions, but every single one that needs a rework, even a small one, for many reasons.

Stephenizgod1 votes

The only champions that need reworks are the toxic and unhealthy ones. The other champions simply need tweaks and changes, these are not reworks.

Jayce needs a rework

XIII Vanitas1 votes

Why do you think so? I think his playstyle fits the concept of a young hero/inventor and his gameplay is quite fun and engaging.

Xicashina1 votes

Im pretty sure the person is referencing the fact that alot of AD casters are in a horrible spot right now because they have no good itemization

XIII Vanitas1 votes

That's a totally different problem.

Xicashina1 votes

I know XD

TekkenPlayer1 votes

Ezreal and Lucian are in a good spot right now though
