I am already sick of people banning Blitzcrank. If I have to play support I want to play Blitzcrank but hes almost always banned. I don't even see the point to banning? Why restrict someone from playing the champ they want. It just sours my games. I dont even know why Blitzcrank is banned so much and not someone like Thresh.

SchmidttyGames6 votesWell for one, Blitzcrank's hook is a whole different animal than Thresh or Nautilus' hooks are. He can grab you and pull you over walls into certain death. Thresh can not. This is the reason he's almost universally hated. Blitzcrank has traumatized almost all of us at one time or another.

Deep Terror Nami5 votesBlitz is very strong in low elo; players aren't as good at dodging/anticipating your hooks. If you can climb up some you won't see him banned very frequently. If you don't like any chance of being banned you can play Blind Pick, or preferably just learn some alternatives. Nautilus is a better tank than Blitz and Thresh, try him if you want the hooks.
Randomonium3 votesBecause every patch there are certain champions that are extremely strong or that people simply don't want to play against. If you don't want to deal with bans then blind pick is always an option.
EMeta1 votesI don't generally ban Blitz anymore, but when I did regularly it was because I think he's really bad for team morale. If my bot lane has someone who gets hooked & killed three times, that could salty really fast, in a way that Nami bubble/Thresh Hook/Annie stun really doesn't. It's not trivial to avoid the hooks while also watching the mini-map, checking opponents' items, controlling the wave, last-hitting and poking. But if I have a teammate who gets pulled, my team is likelier to rage (even if getting a few early pulls is built into the power level of Blitz's kit & getting out of that lane only a couple kills behind probably puts you about even overall).
TL;DR, He's just not fun to play against, and that factors into bans as much or more than power level.

Practically, it's used as a tool to avoid learning how to play against certain champs
khorney1 votesBlitz is one of the very few supp who are game changing . Him and taric . Tarics ultimate has won many many many games. He can die 30 times in lane or outside and it doesn't matter. All blitz has to do is get 1 lucky grab and gg. Not a lot of supp can do this .
