FlyQuest the Biggest Rise and Fall since Rome?
Amiright? or Amiright?
Amiright? or Amiright?
The Roman empire rose around 6bc and fell around 1400 ad with the fall of Constantinople...
It's one of the longest lasting empires...
Fly quest, is dropping a lot like Japan did in wW2
FQ dropping harder than my mix tape
Don't think that Flyquest is out of it yet. Hopeful that they turn it around though.
For me, the big problem with teams like this (and Albus Nox Luna) is that they're only really good in the short-term aspect of things. While they may pull out some fun off-meta stuff and get tons of "hype" around them, once teams figure out how to beat those picks it just becomes a matter of which team (usually the one not pulling out the off meta ones) has more individual skill. Although they were fun to watch in the beginning, now that teams have figured them out it should make their remaining games pretty brutal for bandwagoners and off-meta enjoyers to watch. Whether they remain in the top-4 (or even the playoffs for that matter) is truly hard to say.
wouldn't that be origin? challenger to worlds top 4 to relegation?
Looks like Flyquest motivation was based off of beating cloud 9. After losing to Cloud 9, they didn't have much motivation after.
The other teams know how to play against them now.
what about CLG 2016? Won spring split, made it to finals at MSI and did well against SKT, then barely managed to reach 4th place in summer. Flyquest was expected to be a middle of the pack team at best
Teams only took what 7 weeks to finally figure out that Balls, Moon, Lemon and Altec could just be walked away from and instead just focus on Hai and you will win.
Balls has gotten worse each and every split since his 2013 Summer split and the last split that he was good was what 2014 summer?
Moon is whatever.
Altec has really bad teamfighting abilities and always has, while Lemon is ok as a player but his main focus is the drafting part that's really about it.
The question is who takes the blame on FQ ? Balls? Lemon? Is it the guy that everyone over hypes to infinite and beyond with his shotcalling Hai?
Sounds like Dignitas Pre-Season 6 (or just during the QT days) where it was like actual proven effort of some kind due to the rest of the league slowly creeping up behind them. Still stands though. This team has officially taken a gut check and there is absolutely a chance they fall out of playoffs just like that given how close the middle of the table is. I know they're 3.5 games up right now but there's still a world where they could fall into the Relegation Zone if they continue to roll over like this.
I blame that article on Hai that his brother wrote.
Ever since that "expose" on Hai came out on lolesport's front page, both Hai's and Flyquest's performances started to dip significantly. Much like C9, flyquest's fates rise and fall on Hai. He is the heart of the team. The article I think affected him psychologically and as a result caused him to play worse which snowballed into the team losing faith in his calls.
Why might Hai feel this way? Well, it could be seen as his brother taking advantage of their closeness to further his own career. I think Hai's brother did this. In fact, his article was less reverential than it was "this is MY story of what it's like to grow up with Hai." It shared too much about who Hai is and I think that affected him, in the same way a doting mother telling stories about her son can. It's somewhat emasculating.
Now, I know just because A preceded B that doesn't mean that A caused B. Therefore, I'm just calling this a theory. There are other factors as well. It's been a bit of a snowball. I also think the losses to C9 kind of broke them. But I think the fall of Flyquest started with the Hai article.
Shotcalling is all they have. The players are not as mechanically skilled as TSM/C9/IMT.
