The Nunu Quest Begins

I admit, this is a situation I am not used to. I've always been kind of an up or down, win some lose some kind of player, but I've never felt like I was really...at a disadvantage before.

But that's okay! Because I can adapt and change, just like I always tell everyone else on these boards. No crying to Riot, no demanding rune updates or anything. I already did that before the preseason and look where it got me. No, I can fix this on my own. Riot shipped these new runes to Live so there must be some secret strategy that I'm just too Bronze to see.

So, here we go. I'm officially retiring Guardian for right now and moving on to the mystery gem of the expansion: Unsealed Spellbook. I know that the playtesters have said this is the best keystone for junglers by far, but I haven't really see its popularity spike at all over the last few days. At least not in Normals.

I was hesitant to go full Inspiration because I actually really like the Resolve minor runes and don't want to give any of them up, but here we go. This is the page I'm currently running:

Inspiration + Resolve (+20% Elixir and Potion Duration, +145 Health) Unsealed Spellbook - Gain a Summoner Spell charge at 2 min and every 6 min after. You can use a charge to swap Summoner Spells at the shop. Additionally, you gain 25% CDR on Summoner Spells. Perfect Timing - You get a free Stopwatch. Reduce the cooldown of Gargoyle Stoneplate by 15%. Magical Footwear - You get Boots at 10 minutes. They give you +10 MS and reduce the cost of upgrading them by 50 gp. Celestial Body - You gain +100 Health. Until 10 minutes, you deal 10% less damage to champions and jungle monsters.

Overgrowth - Gain 0.2% bonus maximum health for each 8 minions/monsters that die near you. Conditioning - After 10 minutes, gain +8 armor and MR, and an additional +5% armor and MR.

Going to finish work and then play this build all night. I'm particularly concerned about how Celestial Body will affect my clear speed, but as true damage cannot be reduced I'm hoping Consume + low Smite CD will counteract this.

If anyone has any suggestions, let me know, please!

Ugh, that work took longer than I thought.

Okay, first game! Went 0/3/0, game was over at around 16 minutes because my top laner was pinging me for ganks and when I didn't help him he afk'd then int'd. So that game doesn't really count.

What I learned -

I figured the best way to do this would be to start with Teleport and Smite so I could throw a ward over the dragon pit and TP to it on my first back. It worked out and I got dragon around 5 minutes, but of course the 10% damage debuff means I am heavily discouraged from ganking a losing lane, big risk of giving away a double in that case.

We'll see how it goes next.

Have you give the non-celestial body runes a try yet? Approach Velocity is pretty great in general and more CDR on all the things never hurts.

Just finished my second game (enemy team surrendered at 19:21).

This time it was a stomp in the other direction, every lane was doing bad but my top laner was winning harder than all of them were losing, so I TP'd and got drag, ganked bot a few times and used Herald to smash their base early.

One of the main issues I've been having with Guardian is a lack of durability, which is why I've been trying Celestial Body. I also figured Cosmic Insight was redundant with the 25% SS CDR. But I'll give Approach Velocity a shot, sure.

Jungle: Guardian, Font of Life, Iron Skin, Overgrowth. For the secondary path take sorcery with Celerity and Water walking. This allows you to peel for your team even more, make aggressive early ganks and dives, and have a slightly healthier early clear.

Top (take ignite): Grasp, Unflinching, Iron skin, second wind. For the secondary path you go sorcery with mana flow band and scorch. This is a feast or famine build. Your early game is beyond what anyone will ever expect. You can 2v1 jungle + top pre-6 even. This build is taken from the player 'Beremoth' who climbed to diamond with this build alone.

Eh, that's pretty much the build I was using before, except I had Conditioning instead of Iron Skin and I had Nullifying Orb/Gathering Storm because I have no interest in early ganks.

Thanks though.

Alright, finishing the night off. I had 7 games with Nunu, 3 wins and 4 losses. 5 games ended before 21 minutes, most of them with surrenders.
