Some proposed changes for Galio.

Note: Only one of these is a direct skill change.

Let me start by saying that I enjoy Galio. He's extremely hard to play, as his main harassing skill is a tiny skill shot. When thinking more closely about Galio, what focus is he supposed to take? I personally see him as a tank that can deal some damage, with very slight utility (and have used him as such). His Bulwark is the tank side, the other skills are more utility based rather than damage based. Isn't that similar to Nautilus? Sure, they have different skills, but the goal of each skill is to give utility to either yourself or the team. Galio's passive actually hurts him in that regard. Anyway, I enjoy his kit and all of its flaws, but as Sion is fresh off the rework list, I think it's about time Galio got his less intensive fixes.

I recall someone telling me about a passive rework, and though that's enjoyable, I feel Galio should just gain HP from Armor as well as the current iteration. That doesn't solve all of his problems though. He has huge mana sustain issues, even with Chalice of Harmony. He gets kited really easily despite his speed boost/ slow combo. How do you land his ultimate if they see you coming? You're forced to use Flash or have someone initiate for you. Not what a tank is supposed to do.

A few of the fixes I'm proposing are subtle (like a slight size increase to Resolute Smite), but anyone who has played Galio knows how impacting they can be. Summary is: ability to grant HP off of Armor, a mana sustain fix, and just an overall boost to Galio's ability as a mid lane tank. Note that Galio's AP ratio on his Q cannot be adjusted because he is a tank, and the skill shot ignores minion and champion collision. Risk-free needs a cost.

Runic Skin I'm made of stronger stuff: Now converts Magic Resistance into AP and Armor into HP. Passive's effect is reduced considerably.

Resolute Smite And the earth trembled: Resolute Smite now has a slightly bigger AoE, also leaves a small patch of burnt ground for a short duration that deals % hp damage based on enemies' current HP (with added smoke FX).

Bulwark Heal me more mate: Bulwark now heals more based on Galio's missing HP if attacked by a champion. I'll be taking that: Bulwark now recovers mana when hit, it does not get reduced based on how many times Galio is hit. Minions can only give Galio 1 mana per attack.

Righteous Gust Going up: Now knocks up enemies caught within its path. Removed ally speed boost, can now only apply to Galio. AP ratio decreased.

Idol of Durand Finish them: If Idol of Durand gets interrupted by an enemy, Galio's basic cooldowns are refreshed.

Although I already posted a quick summary before saying the changes, I need to clarify some things:

First, there are no numbers involved here aside from the ones already on live. Any removals/ decreases I'm suggesting are only trade-offs for power, and obviously testing can decide whether they are needed or not.

Bulwark and Idol of Durand are iconic abilities that define Galio, so I am suggesting that they be actual threats. Righteous Gust's change is so Galio can pull off a smoother EQ, though the usual combo is QE (it's easy to switch anyway). The Q adjustment is to make Galio less item-dependent and less difficult to play. Most of his gameplay revolves around landing Resolute Smite, and with the small AoE combined with the projectile speed...it's pretty difficult to land.

Lastly, Runic Skin's adjustment is so that he's not losing out for building defensively against AD types. Going for armor in any sense as Galio right now means sacrificing AP potential, which means your lane battle gets harder (sometimes nearly impossible) to survive against.

I hope you enjoyed reading my suggested changes and I would love to hear any feedback. Galio only needs a small lift to be okay in most scenarios, and a slightly higher lift to be really good at the scenario he's supposed to be used in (countering APs).

I like how you get that he needs to be more fun, not stronger. These look like good changes to modernize his kit.

I simply wish Galio was Ranged (with ranged auto attack reduction )

Biggest problem with galio is that he can be harassed by autos too much . Takes too long for him to grow into ap resist tank and hes laning is very unsafe .

While I agree that he can be freely harassed, he can sort of escape that through managing his Resolute Smite well. Most people taking him mid lane actually build him pure AP instead.

He has Bulwark and rather low AP ratios however, so I'm pretty sure he was meant to be a tank of some kind. I'm not trying to attack AP Galio honestly, because the proposed kit changes won't even hurt AP Galio that much. People tend to like utility in their mid/top lanes.
