Why are people complaining about turrets?

I honestly don't understand why players are complaining about turrets being weak. Turrets are fine the way they are.

Executing a great dive and punishing the enemy player for lack of vision, lack of health, and lack of 'respect' should be rewarded.

There has never been a time where I said to myself, "Wow, turrets are so weak, I just got dove and didn't get anything out of it." That's the point of getting dived.. to punish the enemy without giving any resources back.

It is an aggressive call that is highly rewarded, but can easily backfire without the proper set up.

The new rift herald is an important objective in the current meta and can easily help a winning team close out the game and it could also help a losing team get back in the game--if executed correctly.

A lot of players don't like this season because of how crazy and fast things get. But I don't mind this season. Players who are getting punished for mistakes--theoretically--should not be able to get back into the game without them making a great effort and make decent/great plays.

Anyway, turrets are fine the way they are. I don't see a problem with getting dove under a turret. You lacked vision, awareness, and in most cases, underestimated your opponent.

I think the issue is exactly what you said:

That's the point of getting dived.. to punish the enemy without giving any resources back

Turrets do nothing when an enemy can take 10 tower shots and do nothing to them. What risk is there when an enemy just has enough armor to tank it? Early early game sure, it's a high risk high reward play, but eventually(especially in top lane), you can just walk right under the tower with no minions in sight of it and pummel their HP bar down with enough armor. I've actually seen a Nasus ult under tower and take like 13 shots and still have 95% of his health. It can be a bit ridiculous. I personally think anyone who took 13 shots in the mid game from a turret should be dead.

Let's give you the strongest singular turret, the inhibitor turret. It maxes out at 290 AD. Lets say a barely tanky champion with 100 armor approaches it. Good news! Turrets penetrate 30% of their target's armor. More good news! Turret damage against champions ramp up 40% each shot, up to 120%! Now he has 70 armor and is going to take way more damage than he initially believed.

Now the bad news. First shot deals 119 damage. That's certainly not negligible, you say to yourself. If the target only bothered with 100 armor, that's probably close to a tenth of his health. Next shot? 167, total now 286. Now we're getting somewhere. Next shot? 214, total 400. This is...getting underwhelming, actually. Next shot, and then every shot thereafter? 262, total 662, 924, 1186...you get the idea.

So a 100 armor INSERT CARRY OF CHOICE HERE can literally walk up to your tower and just fucking stand there (turrets have an attack speed of .83, so the damage ramp will take awhile), and that's assuming the CARRY is the one tanking the damage, which of course he isn't (so you're going to take even longer to see appreciable results from that turret), but it establishes my point that a relatively "squishy" champ doesn't need to fear turrets.

What if you dont lack vision or awareness. But they just send 5 men in and you know it. You literally have to back up to inhib turret, you cant even hope to kill the minions. Then you have to somehow protect a uselsss inhib turret.

Ill leave this last comment.

The problem is that there are so many trashy 5man bullies. I forget all about the great coordinated dives. Some dives are really good and close. But for every good dive, there are multiple push teams off turret. And those leave a bad taste.

But that goes against what Riot wants. They don't want people to be penalized harshly for mistakes.

But they also want games to be fast.

It's weird.

People don't like getting punished for falling behind. You mean losing lane and having bad wave control has consequences? Gasp!
