General thoughts on solo que journey...and seeking advice?

I'd say one of the most tilting things in solo que is seeing a botlane that is supposed to stomp a lane, get totally trashed in a 2v1 constantly whilst the enemy teams support has been roaming mid and top side for 5-10 minutes. My current journey back to plat has been one of constant frustration which disheartens me to the point where I too start getting tilted and in turn throwing the game. This isn't another post in which I'm trying to put blame on my teams for sucking ass because I know until I reach a higher tier and stop throwing games that were a stomp, I'm no better than my team mates who fed early. I've even gone to the extent of having all chat permanently turned off and muting all team mates once I get into game (doesn't stop me from aggressively telling my team to stop doing dumb shit)

Positives:

  • I know my champions
  • I know my match ups
  • Farming has definitely improved since last season averaging 150-200+ CS at 20 minutes (depending how game is going)
  • Grouping for objectives, giving up objectives I can't contest
  • Giving up on a dead lane to play safe

Negatives:

  • My champions are out of season (Viktor, Rengar)
  • Expanding my pool into whats popular is tedious (plus 10 bans means can't guarantee on OP pick)
  • Throwing games due to frustration
  • Tunnel vision if winning lane
  • Bad lane control due to playing champs who want to roam
  • Lack luster mechanics due to not having enough time to play the game anymore (yay adulthood)
  • Not understanding where the meta lies for this season

I'm pretty sure my list of negatives and positives for my own journey is probably bigger than this, I should probably play champs that are in rotation for being OP but I'd rather settle for comfort picks than anything else. Hard stuck gold for 9 months, still haven't stopped playing. Any advice would be appreciated

this eventually becomes a pain but as soon as everyone locks in there picks backround checks everyones previous games on op.gg, if you seem them getting fed and winning a lot think about assisting them more often and listening to their callouts. or trying to make plays only when they are around. if you see they haven't played the champ in bit eye ball it as you see fit. a lot of times I win games by ditching my adc and just supporting another lane for 7 minutes cause I know if could just get my akali mid a couple free kills she'll carry us.

others you can do is get a discord server of you own. don't have to do anything special with it just before each champ select closes hit that chat box with you server link and say something to encourage them to join. (ex. voice comms increases our chances of winning by about 65%!) if they are already in one ask to join theirs. 9 times outta 10 they'll let you join no problem.

I don't think sticking with a comfort pick is a bad thing... unless its aatrox. however that's a personal thing because im a sion one trick and can make him work in almost any situation against anything. however ive developed a couple niche picks for when I can see that picking sion into a lane would be a bad matchup (ex. if I see they have a vane and a blitz ill probably just gnar support as long as I have a mobile adc, if my adc isn't mobile I used to pick sejauni, but sej support isn't the same after rework so ive been pickng up alistar in these scenarios) so though comfort picking isn't bad imo, try to have a couple different options to fit a bad scenario in champ select.

if you want to up your in game then a lot of it seems to come down to preventing you team from turning on eachother and keeping the mood positive, somtime it cant be helped. but a lot of times if you see a teammate suddenly start raging in chat all you have to do is remind them of you opponents weaknesses (falling off, counterplay, septable to ganks, ect.) and then firmly telling your teammate what they can do to help their own situation. (play back til you get a gank, build these couple items first, push lane up then go roam mid just make sure you don't KS as our can carry us). doing this does require a bit a leadership and game knowledge. as well some social skills with talking to tilted strangers on the internet. you don't want anything to be misinterpreted and turn into getting more tilted and throwing a game/ giving up.

last tip, just don't surrender @ 20.... just don't. 9 times out of 10 you too upset with the game and have a very narrow point of view on why you GOING TO LOSE, and are ignoreing the plethora of factors that go into this game that could immediately turn it around without you even having to do all that much. and a lot of times enemies probably don't even know how to close a game or throw in someway themselves. you only in gold. nobody is perfect and in fact a lot of people are cocky which can lead to a lot of misplays and mistakes. stick the game out until you get aced and they take baron and all you got is nexus turrets. game will usually turn around in some way even if its 4 to 22. ive seen it happen plenty of times. even you don't win and you lose anyway drawing the game on to 50 minutes. it doesn't mean you shoulda surrender @ 20 it means you came back and held out and had a real chance of winning. someone or all of you just made a misplay/call at the end you lost. it happens. you cant win em all.

Yeah... about that "teammates will be good once i climb high enough". I got put bronze 3 to start the season cuz 6 of my placement matches were decided in laning and I wasn't the deciding lane. Hard to snowball 1v2 and out-carry a 13/0/4 bot lane or something like that.

Anyways, I climbed, hit s3 and hit a wall. 90% of games were auto-losses back in Feb/Mar, and I said stuff to my teammates. Rude stuff because being ignored when asking them to do crap like: ward, hug tower, stop forcing outnumbered fights vs fed enemies - it all got ignored at best and got me harassed by my teammates and reported as toxic. So after being rudely ignored and/or harassed for over 10 min by a bunch of feeders (and worse - people who didn't feed and knew I was right), I would lose it. Dropped from s3 to s5 and repeatedly told I was trash, git gud, stay hardstuck in bronze loser, and shit like that. Finally after a month or so of almost every game being auto-loss, I got a break. I immediately started climbing. Hit gold. Climb to gold 3 - which is about where I belong - and have bounced around gold 5 to gold 3 ever since.

Gold 5 comes because I've been getting a mini session of my Feb/Mar treatment all over again lately. If you are counter-picked, stuck 1v2 or 1v3 (when fed enemy support or mid roams top) in laning phase for 15+ min, you can't really do much to get fed. Maybe if jungle would actually GANK, it would be different. But as with all other ranks I've climbed through, the jungler never ganks top for me for some reason or will only do one attempt and the most horribly timed and thought out one at that. I can have a flashless 1/4 hp enemy toplaner with no escape tools trying to break a freeze outside my tower and jungle will run all the way to bot to gank for a feeding 2v2 lane rather than give a counter-gank top. People in gold are largely no better than people in bronze or silver. SOME have better mechanics, but not by a large amount. And their decision-making/macro/shotcalling is generally just as flawed and illogical. Worse still is that they make fun of you for trying to shotcall even when you make good calls. Like executing a 4-1 splitpush. How is this so hard to do for the 4 man group? If you're 4v5, kite back; if you're 4v4, keep up the pressure; if you are 4v3 - consider engaging. I can see when the enemy is going for drag as a 5 man group and they are ahead. Even if we don't have wards there. And we could stop trying to contest, sneak a baron during that time cuz we have the dps and ability to tank, and we know they are 5 man drag. But instead 2-3 people decide to fight at dragon, die 3v5, then blame team for not giving enemy a 5v5 that the would win? And next dragon... repeat - could get inner tower mid and top in trade for drag, but let's take another 5v5 when half our team is way behind and we'll get aced for maybe killing 2 enemies. Crap like that gets repeated over and over IN THE SAME GAME. Like, I had to WORK to get to gold. If I played that stupidly and REPEATED the SAME "mistakes" over and over again in THE SAME MATCH, I would still be bronze. But nope, somehow these people are gold. I'm not claiming I should be higher than g3 - I know my mechanics are g3 at best - but I am claiming many people in gold have equal or less intelligence than some of the better players stuck in silver or bronze. And worse is that they don't listen to someone who obviously understands macro and shotcalling better than them. They are too arrogant or too stupid to see that. They don't learn from their mistakes or adapt their play in any way. Might as well be a program/robot.

In my experience, and from what I've heard from people in plat and diamond, climbing only gets you better opponents - not better teammates. Teammates still do the same stupid shit from bronze to challenger. Their mechanics might improve, but that's generally it. (Obviously some macro improvements past gold, but still some poor macro too). Carrying a game or winning gets a lot harder - even if YOU do the right thing. Except in those rare glorious instances where your teammates aren't boosted, have coordination, and you could intentionally feed all game and still win. Not that I like those matches either - I prefer an even matchup between teams - not that they exist anymore.

LoL is all luck. Stop trying so hard I did all this for years itdoesnt matter when your team will feed afk and troll. Want to climb that bad get 4 ppl to carr you out so they cant be idiots. you need 4 smurfs. or it wont work. This is near impossible to get but its better chance climbing this way than with random nonsense. Stop buying into the illusion that if you get a certain cs by a certain time it will win games. Your team sucking means you lose your team being good means you win. LoL is graphical craps. accept it.

Just play for fun, and not care about climbing, in the end it's just a game if your not having fun why play it?
