Is no one gonna talk about Sion Q hitbox?

Black Pöwer··12 votes·3,476 views

It's at least half a Teemo bigger than its hitbox indicates and I think that's pretty much game breaking, I was just in the practice tool testing this out my self and I was planning to upload a recording but apparently practice tool doesn't save to game history. I saw some older threads stating that it could be due to an issue with the angle that you're looking at his Q but I tested this from several different angles and it's the exact same length with each test. These threads are going back months if not a whole year and all that's getting fixed is his E due to new runes? The hit box indicator needs to be updated or the ability just fixed.

I always just assumed it was a character model/character hitbox mismatch.

I feel like his Q hitbox is just random, same with cho`gath Q, sometimes you go ''how the hell did that hit me'' and sometimes you go''...wait it didn't hit me? how''

I think Riot should look into abilities that are way more blatant than Decimating Smash. MAINLY looking at Nautilus Q here.

Black Pöwer1 votes

What do you mean by more blatant? I used to play a lot of nautilus and his Q indicator is also probably a whole Teemo longer than it is and it also has not been tended to but this post is due to the fact that Sion is the "current OP", with his E hitbox also being bugged I think his Q should also be fixed

I like the measuring system in lol, We measure with teemos

Teemo is exactly 100 units across on his hit box, so it is sorta fitting.

False, Teemo is actually 110 units in diameter.

I would have sworn it was 100, but they could have changed it back when they did that global hitbox pass on champions to unify them into about 5 different categories instead of whatever random number had felt appropriate at the time of them being made.

50000000000000001 votes

It definitely used to be 100.

Yeah I’ve noticed this as well. I tried standing just outside his indicator on various champs and I end up getting hit anyway. His actual range definitely is larger than the indicator/hitbox.

Have you tried custom games, rather than practice? There's a little more to setting it up, but I think the history for those are saved. Unless it isn't the case anymore. If nothing else, could try using OBS to record it, unless they changed their business practice, the basic model should be free to use for recording.

Black Pöwer1 votes

Thank you for the suggestion, I might look into trying OBS never really had use for it before

I don't think I understand you but yeah Sion Q actually hits you even if you are a but out of range , but I never though of it as a bug , this happens only when Sion Q is fully charged so I thought it's something related to that

Black Pöwer1 votes

I don't think it's a bug I think it's just the Q indicator that needs updating; the fully charged indicator is not reflective of the abilities actual range and it also hits on the side edges to the same parameters. It's highly misleading and they've changed champion ability indicators in the past when it has been an issue (Darius/Jhin I believe) but this hasn't been addressed at all for over a year looking back on the open threads.

Hethalean1 votes

How about when he slips into bush, and you follow him. If he is charging Q, it gives you the wrong indicator for where it'll hit... or it'll give you two.

LordGeovanni1 votes

As some one spaming sion and who used to get screwed when he was popular i agree.

Leetri1 votes

I've seen a Rioter comment on it, they know it exists and it should be fixed for the next patch I believe.

Steelflame1 votes

They were commenting on his E hitbox, not his Q hitbox. His E hitbox is massively bugged because the work they did to change how it acts messed up the hitbox value (Went from center of the shot (+30) to edge of champion hitbox to edge of the minion's hitbox(+30) to edge of champ hitbox.

Cavesloth1 votes

Donno if its exclusive to the Star Guardian skin but Lux's Q has wayyyyy bigger hitbox than it appears.

Bütthound1 votes

Nah the hitbox is fine, I tested with basic Sion and mecha and the hitbox was perfectly fine for a 3D hitbox game. Mecha's is closer to the actual hitbox size while basic Sion's is wayyy more stylized, which if anything should be updated but imo its not too big of a deal.

also theres a little thing were Sion can move a bit forward after starting up Q if he just casted E , not sure if that changes the hitbox tho.

Vectros1 votes

Sion is among my most played champs, so I'm biased against nerfs against him. That being said, it definitely tends to hit larger than shown. I still think there are bigger issues out there, but it is a thing.

Black Pöwer1 votes

Not really a suggested nerf as much as it is a quality of life adjustment for all players; just make the full size of the hitbox visible for both parties; as it currently stands its a lot bigger than what you and your enemy can see

Somebody Love Me1 votes

Honestly I've been saying this for a while, but over time I just got used to it. Sometime's it's really fucking annoying, but yeah they should fix that. You can't make a champ telegraph the shit out of an ability, clearly define the hitbox, only for it to be a false hitbox.

Sand lord1 votes

Sion's Q hitbox increases the longer he charges it. You would need the visual indicator to dynamically change size when being charged.

Black Pöwer1 votes

Yeah I'm well aware of the fact that the hitbox increases with how long you charge it, what I'm talking about is the fact that the range indicator for a fully charged Q is a lot longer than it is and it needs to be updated

Black Pöwer1 votes

Like what they've done with a lot of champion abilities in the past

HOTDOG4LOL1 votes

I agree, I can stand next to it as well, it will pop me up, sometimes when I am standing directly beside sion.
