Good plays made by the losing team are not being rewarded enough if at all.
Consider this scenario:
Its 25 minutes into the game. Red side is shoved into their base, down 1 Inhibitor tower, attempting to defend the last 2 inhibitor turrets and their last nexus turret. All 3 lanes have been pushed up and Red team has to fight now! Then out of nowhere, red teams Blitzcrank makes an incredible flash hook play on one of the blue side carries. Red side kills the hooked carry instantly. Blue side is baited into the fight because it's solo queue and ends up losing 3 more in the process. Blue side stupidly had left baron up. It was the play red sided needed. But what does Red side get from this highlight reel play? Nothing. All they get to do is shove out lanes which will ultimately be push back in within a minute. They don't even get to go near baron or dragon because if they do the minions will end the game and by the time the base is clear Blue side would be ready to contest. Blue team respawns, takes Baron, and wins the game. Blue side is in no way punished for what should be a colossal mistake, and Red team's only reward is more time being shoved in. And on top of that, Blitzcrank's great flash hook didn't even give his team a fighting chance. Blitz feels screwed over and rightfully so. The flash hook didn't matter and killing 4 of them as a result didn't matter. His good play was nullified all because his team didn't have a lead, and all he gets is a loss and maybe a honor.
By no means should Red side have won from that play alone, but they should have been able to get something meaningful out of it. They killed 4 while Baron was up and got nothing, while blue side only had to . Blue team should have been punished for such a stupid play but was instead rewarded. At the very least red side should be able to get a couple of turrets or be able to contest baron. But ever since season 6 started this hasn't been the case. Only the team with the lead gets to play league of legends while the losing team just watches. And whats worse is that because of how awful the season 6 game pace changes were, nobody wants to try to come back anymore. For the last 2 years we've all ended up like that Blitzcrank so often that there's no reason to think anything different.
I know that Riot's releasing some write up on game pace when they get back in January, but if the last 2 years of this game have shown me anything, it's that Riot won't fix something they don't see as a problem.
