I will be joining ranked matches soon. My purpose is that so I can practice on a role that is less coveted on ranked games.

Which one is most coveted lane/position/role?

I'd put top more contested than jungle. I remember back in the Teambuilder days, jungle and support used to take the most time to fill by far. Don't think much has changed.

i put top as secondary and i main top, getting it far more than jungle

Hmmm....I guess its a bit different in ranked. In norms I definitely think there is a higher disposition towards to avoidance of jungling.

The very best way I have found to get better at first is to learn the game. Start with supporting, then move to the top > jungle > mid and last adc.

Taking tankier champs in the beginning and as you become more comfortable play more damaging, although squishier ones. This will give you a better over all feel for the game, in the "less coveted" position, that will reduce negative impact on the team, if you do poorly.
