In my opinion, he could be put on the list for a full blown VGU.

Poor thematic, clunky kit, hardly no skill expression, and devolves into nothing more than an R bot every game.

Keep his W, and make his E his passive (landing an ability puts his E on them). Replace EVERYTHING else.

I would be happy with keeping his e either on an ability or passive (the passive idea sounds really cool by the way), would be okay with seeing his current w go. Wouldn't mind seeing something like his previous w come back in some form.

The only time you ever used his old W is when you used his ult. So, Riot did you a favor by just automatically putting it down when you cast his ult.

Yeah, I can agree with that, I was more meaning in a thematic way. Him ripping open a rift to the void and it affecting the area around it was a cool thing in that regards. I wouldn't mind if they changed how it works, just something along that thematic line. Plus, I wouldn't mind them getting rid of his current ult if they gave him something else that was cool and fit him as a champ.

So you're one of the sheep that fell for Riot's "reasons" for reworking him huh...

Malzahar's staple items include Rylai's and Liandry's

Old Malzahar W was an 800 range pool.

Being able to use Null Zone to:

Slow poke both enemy laners and minions without alerting them to your all in

Save allies or yourself from being chased by the pool's slow

Actually fight tanks with its cooldown being a lot shorter than R (Obviously)

Catch enemies with near instant damage ticks after casting with 800 range and Rylai's

Provide an advantage area-wise for your front line engaging enemy front liners

Zone enemies from portions of the lane while laying siege to towers

Make a dance floor for you and that Lee Sin trying to gank you in the middle of your minions. (Because believe it or not, you'd like to be able to move around on your W as Voidlings/minions/Null Zone killed Lee)

If you actually think that Null Zone's purpose in life was just to be stuck with Ult, you're sadly mistaken or unimaginative.

If anything, Nether Grasp was a tool to make Null Zone (As well as Q and Voidlings) more useful.

Not only does Null Zone do less damage than its old free-to-cast-anywhere self...

Its up less often overall.

Also, Instead of using Null Zone + Rylai's to damage them initially and then using Ult as they reach the edge (Extending the amount of damage they're exposed to Null Zone), The Ult will only keep them there for the initial 2.5s and then they walk out.

How is that a favor?

First off, no, I am not one of the sheeple. I understand that Malzahar's rework is considered one of Riot's biggest blunders.......which is why initially, I said that he could deserve to be put on the VGU list.

As for everything else, the only times I ever truly saw people use his W in a regular fashion was in combination with his ult. So, I assumed that was why Riot moved it to his ult. They were simply doing something to the kit that everyone was already doing.

But if you disagree to that, so be it.

They abandon all balanced champions. The only champions being picked are the overpowered and broken champions.

I've seen a lot of posts from malz mains wanting something to change. Riot has ignored them all.

Yes I'd like to see a rework of some kind, but if they just wanted to make him viable again, it's his W that needs the attention. They are meant to be the void creatures that will destroy the world, but they can't actually kill anything. They're slow, do little damage except to minions and have no hp.

His e is the core of his character, with q and r resets and it's 'ping' after its target dies making it great with liandy's and rylais, but his ult is the only thing in his kit that gives him kill pressure. Now they've taken that away with the recent and unrelenting nerfs, a full combo from a level 6 malz on an assassin like kat does 38% of their max hp, with no follow up available.

So yes I agree he needs attention, whether it be a rework or a simple fix to his current kit, I fear riot will do neither until late in the season if at all and will continue putting their attention into champions that least need the work like ahri and akali. (Even the long awaited Aatrox rework seems unnecessary now tbh!)
