Malzahar is dead in competitive and literally all high elo one tricks have abandoned him

"I think Malzahar is balanced" - riotrepetoir

2 years, 3 reworks, has to be hundreds of hours of work, and this is what you have to show for it. Legendary.

He's got a near 50% win rate with a middle of the pack play rate.

There's lots of champions that don't get picked in competitive. That's not a problem.

Wow an anti assassin auto fill champion in an assassin meta has a nearly 50% winrate in plat, wow, guess that's that then. I expect velkoz and viktor and lux to receive 900 damage on their ults next patch because they're sitting at 47% winrate in plat and this stat matters.

ModWulf Helhammer2 votes

We're not in an assassin meta My point of showing his play and pick rate is that with an average pick rate, he's doing about average. If those things were mismatched, then there would likely be a problem (so super low play rate, meaning only mains play him, but still an average or below average win rate means that he's weak. Likewise a super high play rate with an average or above average win rate means he's overpowered).

You also pointed out how people have abandoned playing, when clearly that isn't true.

Sure, Malz has a 50% winrate in plat therefore he's fine guys but the fact that the highest winrate diamond solo Q mid laners are assassins and roaming mages = not assassin meta boyz. I said high elo one tricks and competitive have abandoned him, you literally just ignored the entire sentence just to shill, what a legend.

So your argument is that he isn't a one trick? Ok, but why is that complaint worthy?

Quoting winrate as a reason for a champion being left as a teir 5 is just stupid. Malz has an ok winrate because he brings utility through a 2 second stun ult. You reworked his W until it was crap, nerfed his ult despite the obvious outplays available (now called SKARNER tax), and left him able only to do well with someone doing damage to back him up. If you wanted him to be a support you should have left him as he was last year before your messed with him! He was more mid lane viable then anyway!

You're meant to be a moderator, but you obviously have no concept of the champion you're talking about, their history pre-patches and haven't read the 50 or so posts regarding the state of malz and the 10-15 viable fixes for him, so you just google winrates and copy paste. Can Riot please respond with something a little less insulting in future?

I'm not a Rioter. I am a volunteer for moderating the boards. I have no more knowledge or statistics than any other player.

I bring up his winrate and pick rate because he's doing fine. If his statistics were more out of line, then there would be a problem. But they aren't. So then considering everything else Riot is concerned with right now, a champion that is middle of the pack statistically is not, and should not be, on their priority list.

So as a moderator you believe it is your role to downplay the opinions of riots player base and undermine their experience with inconclusive statistics and you own opinions as to what riot should and are working on?

Sorry but as a moderator surely you should be more focused on posts that contain inflammatory comments towards/between players, many of which include abusive language, rather than posts that are simply stating the general opinion of the player base?

Also please note even as a volunteer you represent Riot on the forum

I am not posting in moderator capacity here. I would have thought that would have been clear.

I am posting as just another player, and one that understands that when a champion is doing fine statistically, they are not a pressing concern.

Sorry, the "Moderator" tag threw me there. Is there no way you can try posting as a normal player rather than using the moderator tag? I know its a great way to get your own opinion across from a suggested place of superior knowledge, but in all honesty it doesn't reflect well on riot when a moderator can make statements that are not really based on experience, validity or with any actual knowledge of riots plans with a tag that show him as their representative on the forum. Especially when he can always cop out with the "I didn't mean it as a moderator" line anytime he's shown to be speaking out for his ass.

Useful statistics for you to look into however: Malzahar has dropped from top teir to teir 5, His playrate has dropped by about 40%, which would account for his seemingly reasonable winrate (normally having a lower playrate would increase a champions winrate incase you didn't know), at which point if you look back at when his playrate was the same after the nerfs you'll see his winnrate was actually only 46% (there was a post about this at the time but i guess you didn't see it).

The only thing Malzahar has in his kit that makes him in any way viable is his ult. This has effectively relegated him to the role of a mid lane support mage, which a host of champions can do better (Lux, Karma to name a couple). His full combo level 6 (q, w, e, r, q) with lost chapter doesn't even take most champions he faces below half hp. Remember you are also a sitting duck when you do this. Also once QSS is built even this small amount of usefulness is gone.

Hopefully some of this will help you understand the reason for the OP and make you measure you're responses a little more carefully in future.

Because Zed mains actually had to buy item 3140 instead of only item 3155 to insta win their lanes

WHY CANT WE CONTROL OUR FKING PETS. FIRST THE YORICK REWORK WHICH DIDNT LET US MICRO, THEN THE FKING MALZAHAR REWORK WHICH DIDNT LET US MICRO

I was ultra dissapointed both times

I want more delicate controls

Neither of those champs have had direct control over their pets. You could spawn them more on command (for Yorick), but they still had their own AI to direct them. The only pets that can have direct player control are TIbbers, Daisy, and Morde ult.

Malz and Yorick can. You just have to setup a little and E the laner with Yorick and Malz pets go wherever the AIDS is. You can only and should only be able to control ult pets like Daisy and Tibbers
