wtf?

It was a bad streak. I got back to silver 3 since then and called it a season

yep happened to me

Change this to Silver 3 promos and that's my end of ranked experience. I stopped playing ranked once I hit 0 LP in Silver 5.

I usually get to promos then go back to 0

Tr4shB4NSYST3M6 votes

This is usually the pattern for me too, get to 85+, lose 1, then win 2 in a row to get to promos>>>> Then get absolutely shit all over in promos (maybe winning 1) and lose my way back down to 0 with teams that at the very least seem like rito is trying to fuck me.

The worst part isn't having to get back up to where you were after a loss streak. The worst part is that after a loss streak, you earn less than 20 lp per win and lose more than 20 lp per loss. So, before you can even think about actually climbing again, you have to focus more on repairing your MMR that the match maker detonated!

I think one of the largest problems, is a mix of two things

People not only expect riot to matchmake them with EQUAL players to them But they also completely and utterly believe that riot isn't capable of stacking the deck HEAVILY against them intentionally.

I'm not saying with 100% surety that riot definitely rigs their games, but these 2 statements are somewhat contradictory

Either, they're not matchmaking your allies and enemies based off of your own skill level, meaning RNG is the only thing that you can attribute winning to (until high elos because law of probability, its unlikely that a trash player can make it up high whereas a skilled player can minorly influence their winrate and steadily climb)

Or they are ABLE to rig games, if they can matchmake based on player skill level

Again, we'd need to see riot's algorithms and crap, which obviously will never happen (or if it ever somehow does, there's still the ability for them to just omit part of the equasion, leaving us in a permanent state of 'can't confirm nor deny it tbh'), i wont bullshit everyone by saying "YEAH RIOT RIGS THEIR SHIT I KNOW ITS GUARENTEED NOT A DOUBT IN MY MIND" but the pattern is far too wide-spread and consistent to be a coincidence, in my eyes. [zombie-brand-clap]

Happened to me like 6 times but i eventually dug myself out and made it to g5 on two queues this year, first time actually putting in the backbone and grinding out the games.

To have a pattern you need datas.

Can you provide us with datas backing up your claims ?

did you completely and utterly ignore the entire post it's physically impossible to take a look at riot's matchmaking sorting algorithm because it's private or whatever. Ask around any big group of league players, how many of them just barely made it up to the top of a division before having an uncontrollable loss streak

if they just raise the enemy's difficulty, why does it never feel like "woah the enemy is being smarter or playing better", why is it always just "god fucking dammit botlane how are you 0/20 by the time i got to my wolves camp.." if the enemy got significantly better that'd be fine, i like a challenge and it fits the motif of "carry yourself as hard as you can". But why make your enemies better when your allies can just be flaming dog shit? And then lets carry that for a few games so its less suspicious that it almost always happens at the same LP threshold.

I never said to do that. I asked for datas. I asked you to take 10 000 players playing ranked regularly. You look at their progression through the ladder for the last 6 months. And you check if right after getting 90+ Lps you see an unusual number of them starting a losing streak. Then you check if these losing streaks are due to an unusual number of sub-performing players in their team. That's what I would call "datas which backup your claims".

You can do some basic retro-engineering on their algorithm looking at its input and output. And fortunately riots is happy to give you both since you can query their API to get accurate datas on every single ranked games.

How do I ask a big enough group ? How do I prevent only those who experimented that to answer ? How do I account for the cognitive bias ? You are way more likely to remember that you had a losing streak than not having it. So if you reached 90 LP 20 times in the season and went on losing streak 2 times, you'll remember these 2 losing streak while ignoring the 18 time it didnt occur.

Humans and their memory are flawed, raw facts and pure data is the only reliable source of information.

Last time someone complained he was on winning streak and then riot gave him stupid allies I went to check his history, the 2 allies he called stupid had been hard carring a lot of games before playing in his game and doing quite bad. The matchmaking can only base it's matching previsions on the past. If someone was playing well and then starts to do stupid things that's not something the matchmaking could foresee, even if they WANTED to do it it would be impossible.

Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity.

You got me on those first parts, that's an equally impossible feat, but i do remember my winstreaks as much as my loss streaks. I had like a 14 game winstreak on flex 5v5s ended by a mix sheer unlucky matchmaking (enemy had a plat3, every other player was silver and gold) and getting counter picked. Pretty much everyone there knew it was just a one-off, and i went right back to winning 4 more, losing 2, and winning one more. that put me into gold 5.

and then you have the games where someone with 7 wins and 7 losses, whom is only silver 3, is matched with you (in solo/duo) while you're in gold 5 trying to hit gold4, and you wonder "how the fresh fuck did this person end up in my game, he's not even duo'd with anyone"

FOR JUSTICE1 votes

not much here.

but to be fair im biased asf, once i placed silver 5 then climbed up to silver 3 i stopped playing ranked.

Try getting into promo's then going 0-3 into a losing streak :-)

Keep pushing and you'll get there!

Season 5 I went from plat 1 to plat 5 about 3 times before hitting diamond. Tilt is a real thing.

Got to D4 promos from D5 17 lp, won the first game. Then got an intentionally feeding Thresh that lost us the game becuase his Lucian died at the start. Then I lost 5 more matches. One week later I reach my D4 promos again and encounter the same Thresh, he once again ints because his Adc didn't follow his call. This time I flame him for being an asshole and thats the start of how my Diamond account with 6 legendary skins 'TheCodeisCupCake' is permanently banned.

I climbed once up to 85 LP at Gold 1 then i got demoted straight to Gold IV.5 games in a row with afkers on each one, troll champions in whatever roles and inters(not just bad players).

AR URF1 votes

I've been demoted to silver 4, 10 times. Now I didn't get to 90 lp, more like 60, but I think it's still very applicable.

FullmuteAll play1 votes

Very rare if ever. If I lose 2 games I stop playing ranked. Next day I try again-- if I lose again, I stop. Next day I 90% win at least one game.

XxDRAGONsAK47xX1 votes

Was 2 games off Plat 5 promos

Got demoted to gold 5 within a week

Dr Dog1 votes

never really happened to me, i take a break if i lose a few times and drop a bit then usually win a few next time i get on but promos are hell, you get complete disabled monkeys in promos

Zeromatsu1 votes

Was in promos to Diamond in Soloque and dropped back to plat 2... Plat 1 again, then all the way down to plat 3 and gave up.

Atleast I reached diamond in flex, so who cares!

The feels when you go 5/7/4 and are easily the strongest, most fed member of your team. Or when you go 7/6/3 and have the same number of kills as the rest of your team COMBINED.

almost never happened to me tbh. I always breezed through 0-100 LP, every promo game it was like the switch was flipped for me to be teamed up with total MonkeyKing

Lost so many games that I only got 6 LP per win and losing 24 per loss. Omegalul
