How do I get out of bronze?

I know I know, you're probably thinking "ugh another one of these noob posts." But please hear me out, because I am seriously on the verge of just quitting this game. and I don't just say that to get sympathy or support, I mean it, and let me explain why. I would greatly appreciate if you read it all, if not, no worries.

I started playing this game around four years ago, right when I entered high school. A friend of mine showed me the game and it didnt take much for me to install because it was the top game on pc. I had loads of fun over these 4 years when playing with friends, who have since moved on to better things or better games. I've got to meet so many people and learn about their lives and connect with human beings on a much grander scale. Many things changed, I remember the old map, old champion visuals, it sure does bring me back. One thing however remained unchanged, a goal of mine. A goal to get out of bronze. From the day I was finally able to hit level 30, practice myself up for ranked and finally queing up for the first time, I had that goal. Now it's been four years... and I still can't do it.

I've watched streams, I've listened to podcasts, I've spent hours on end trying to get better. But no matter my score, no matter how well I do, no matter how great I communicate with my team, no matter how much I try to help my members...I can not win. At least not enough to hit silver. I just can not do it. You can imagine how frustrating it must be to try to achieve something for FOUR YEARS and get absolutely NOWHERE. I don't know what I am supposed to do at this point. Which is why I make this thread as a dying breath.

What do I do? Should I throw in the towel? Is it time for me to move on to a different game? Maybe this game wasn't designed for my playstyle right? Maybe it's a reality I need to face. Or is there a way? Is there anything I can do? Because I really love this game, for reasons much grander than gameplay or lore. Thanks for reading this all if you did I really do appreciate it. You know the worst thing about league of legends is the community, but sometimes I think that it's the best thing, because in the crowd of assholes out there, there is always really great people to meet. Thanks again.

Find an easy but rewarding champion that dominates lower ELOs, like bronze.

Not necessarily. Bronze suffers from extremely poor decision making and poor mechanics. You can get out of bronze by simply improving one of those two things. I think both must be improved to get from silver to gold, though. Anyone can play Akali, but it's possible to play her very poorly. Just because she can stomp the enemy team doesn't make her freelo.

Hey I'm plat 2 and would love to give you tips! Add me in game if you want <3 Without seeing you play here's what I can say:

  1. CS. This is one of the most important parts of the game. If your lane opponent is up 2 kills but down 50 cs, you have a lead (not taking into account assists, towers, etc)
  2. Pick a role/champ you like. Looking at your match history you jump around loooooots. This is fine for goofing off in normals but it's not too good for climbing. Try to pick somebody you have fun with though. There's no point in playing if you aren't enjoying yourself.
  3. Ward/Vision control. I'm sure you've heard it before. Warding as a whole is super important for everybody. Put your wards in effective locations as well. This can change depending on the game, but I can give an example. ex- You're mid, they have a fiddlesticks jungle and an Annie mid. So if they get on you at all, you're doomed. Going out of your way to pink one of the river brushes closer to baron/drag and using your normal ward will stop him from coming behind you. However as he has his blink you can also ward their raptors in case he tries to get you from there.

You try too hard.

You wana know the trick?

Learn the game.

How do you do this?

Spam ranked games (preferably on the same champion it gives better results)

Basically pick up a champion that's insanely easy to play like Cailtyn or Maokai. Or else spam Draven until you can hard carry every game.

I'm doomed, the real fun hits when you sink from B1 to B5. You can have the best scores with ZERO deaths...but if your team is a bunch of dickweeds, you are utterly doomed because of that.

It's rough as a B5 support with tryhard idiots. my pro tip, take your time, let the other team make the mistakes first trying to rush.

That's the key, DO NOT RUSH. you overextend EVERY DAMN TIME and will pay for it.

Getting out of bronze is one of the easiest things you can do. I've been placed in bronze every season since season 3 and every time I'm out within a day or two depending on how low I was placed. You have one of two problems, you are either lacking in strategic thinking or have piss poor mechanics, isolate the problem and try to correct it.

If you have really bad decision making about when to fight/take objectives etc start commentating your own games either live or during a replay. While you're commentating, make sure you fully justify what you're doing and why you're doing it. Also, try to learn from every mistake. If you died for example, try to think of a way you could have avoided it, and implement those lessons into your next game. If your mechanics aren't trash, try playing something that basically can 1v5 when fed to help you paper over your mistakes Akali Brand Fizz Jax Riven Vayne

If you are like me and have B5 mechanics (csing, skillshots, actions per minute, etc) either work on them till you get better or avoid roles and champs that require higher level mechanics. I am probably one of the worst laners you'll ever see, I miss 70% of all my skillshots and average 60 cs a minute on a good day. So, I only play champs with really forgiving skillshots Malphite or with no skillshots at all Warwick and main jungle because it's hard to miss last hits on jungle camps.

Be lucky.

Seriously, that's all there is to it. Skill doesn't really matter, unless you're literally good enough to carry entire teams every game. And even then you're still going to lose the games where you get an intentional feedbot that does nothing but walk straight down midlane every time it respawns. In season 4 I got placed into Bronze and fought my way out fairly easily. In season 5 I got dumped back into Bronze again because placements fucking suck donkey balls and couldn't get out for love or money, even though I was better at the damn game than I had been the season before. Now it's season 6 and despite me personally being even more skilled than ever, I'm still wallowing in Bronze because I can't get enough teams that don't just outright suck, literally squandering my time and ability. I actually don't feel that bad when I have a genuinely bad game any more because it makes a refreshing change to actually be responsible for my own defeat rather than doing everything right and still achieving nothing, as per fucking usual.

Better lucky than good.

Luck has nothing to do with it. You lack skill at this game, if you want to get better accept it and try harder. I have escaped bronze on multiple accounts on different severs consistently since season 3. If luck has so much determination on your ranking then how are there so many road to diamond videos out there? How is that players are able to consistently able to take fresh level 30 accounts and get high ranking? Stop blaming your failures on your team accept your badness. In bronze I have solo carried games as full AD Ryze support, so don't tell me you can't solo carry bad teams. Accept your badness and if you try hard enough you'll escape the landfill that is bronze and climb to the polished aluminum trash bin that is plat where I currently reside.

Hello - honestly, maybe you need to embrace dynamic queue and start queueing with people that you can trust more. I've been climbing out of bronze really fast since I did that. (won 11 out of 12 games this last weekend) Take some time before you play to meet other people around your skill level and play some normals with them until you know their play style and can communicate well.

Also, play normals with people who have higher MMR than you. Going against really good people will teach you a lot. When you play these low elo games it's easy to start to play like the people around you (not warding, poor positioning, over extending etc.) It's like "you are the company you keep" so to speak. So try to get out of ranked once in a while and practice with some gold-plat players. Anything higher might be TOO frustrating and discourage you lol.

Feel free to add me if you wanna play sometime.

I am in the same boat as you, but I know I'm improving drastically and I win much harder when I do win than I lose when I do lose. Add Dragonshield to chat with me later. I need to lay down for now.

I'm only silver 3 so I don't know if my advice will be that good but here's what I got.

Looking at your account on op.gg you don't seem to have a focus on what role you play. You jump from every lane almost at random. Its gonna be hard to improve this way because each role has different things to worry about.

My suggestion to you would be the same one I got when I was got bronze 3 at the start of this season.

Find two roles like and stick with them

I don't mean become a one- trick pony (Valid option, but not required) Just find two roles/lanes your comfortable with and stick with them consistently. For me its Top and adc. Consistent play gets ya out of bronze. It lets you catch the subtle nuances of the game and get an edge on the ones who don't. For example: I like to run jax top with chogath/maokai when I get counterpicked/banned. I'm super cozy with these champs and could play them at a higher level than any op champ at the moment. (Not sure what the that is for top at the moment, but i assume its yasuo. I've been seeing him a lot lately) I an't good, but I feel confident and that helps in the long run.

Bottom line, find your mains and stick with them.

Don't lose hope, accept your faults and climb like the badass you can be![slayer-pantheon-thumbs]
