Ive become convinced there is some sort of cash prize for or office pot for "over/under" pick/ban rate in pro play.
Theyre all out to have the "new hotness" champ that has to be played or avoided because of their kits impact.
Pro games are mostly new champs and reworks with a few counter picks and standby reliable champs. Braum, just one example, is simple, effective, and most notably, reliable in contribution. Still Kaisa, Urgot, Aatrox, Irelia, Sylas, Akali are new or reworked and show up in every match nearly.
I dont know if its incentivized, cultural, or something else... but the power creep in the form of "mega kit overloading" started a while back. Ekko was probably the first champ where overloading became standard. Like Akali he came out way overloaded, and way overpowered.
So like the addict that knows their actions hurt others, they cant seem to stop themselves from doing/using (insert abused substance/action). Just like Riot knows theyre making their game a balance nightmare, they cant seem to stop themselves from overloading or over tuning reworks and new releases.
