Why don't people realize Baron is worse than Elder if you have poor wave management?

Wave management?

It's not a hard thought at all. People of my elo constantly think that because they have a lead they should split push. What happens when you're about to lose lanes though? You're losing map pressure there as well.

People forget that slow pushes are very dangerous because a teamfight can start and those minion waves can take towers. They can also set up for a straight turnaround.

For example, let's say we're teamfighting and you guys have a gigantic lead in kills and gold. We have our outer turrets destroyed and one inhibitor turret down. What happens when we start a slowpush that reaches your towers 3/4 into lane when our teamfight starts?

Okay, so we lose a few people - you guys decide to do Baron. We couldn't win the teamfight. However, the two remaining team members take that inhibitor turret down and deal a nice chunk to the inhibitor. We place a ward[which people forget to do] in the jungle so our toplaner or someone with teleport can backdoor.

You guys are now busy pushing out creepwaves. At this point, our team respawned and we're taking elder. You guys realized this is possible and try to force a teamfight which we back off from. What you don't realize is that we pushed back in the waves and took down two more turrets, and an inhibitor. We also are almost on our second inhibitor. We fall back when you guys try to defend.

Now you guys are back again, busy with creep waves? Free farm for you guys - cool. We're warding[which people forget to do] in your jungle and taking camps. We're also destroying your vision and taking scuttle crabs.

Now, with Baron, Elder, and a gold lead - you guys easily push us back into base. What you don't realize as you're so focused on the teamfight is that on your minimap, we started a slowpush a longtime ago. Our toplaner is now taking your nexus turrets as we're defending. You guys are trying to recall frantically. We delay you and fall back since we're low.

However, we take one of your members down because you guys recalled to defend the nexus. Due to our vision, we go to Baron and secure it as you guys try to quickly erase the minion waves. Now, we have a superior wave on mid and top. We also have baron and have a huge advantage. We push to your inhibitor turret midlane but you guys rush to defend. We quickly rotate and push into your top inhibitor turret. Now there's constant pressure. Botlane is also pushing because our inhibitor respawned, one of our allies has baron, and now you guys have a decision:

3v2 2v2 to defend your top inhibitor and mid inhibitor or scurry away to defend the nexus turret from our ally. Our ally is getting chased so we take an inhibitor, dive top, take that. Our ally dies but we got two inhibitors. We lost Baron but now we have a comeback. We quickly rush to your base due to our superior minion waves and are losing the 4v3. We take out both nexus turrets, burn flash to avoid damage, and destroy the nexus.

^ And this all came from the opportunities wave management causes.

its no where near as straight forward a with bad wave management elder is better. for example if you have 0 drags, elder is almost worthless, even with 2 drakes if they are cloud / ocean and you are not a poke team its still worse in most situations. Against a team with heavy heavy waveclear in most situations baron is better. I actually think in most situations baron is better, but yes if you can force a fight and have 3 drakes and an infernal or something tehn elder is bettter.
