Is there a reason to play Zilean? Old or New?

I played him a bit to see what the fuss was over his changes and I started a thread. Then i played him again. I main support and I love nautilus so I know what it is like to deal little damage and be mostly utility. But Zil is lame before and after patch. Who are these people getting pushed out of lane by this old man? I do see how he could be cheese before the update. If they are going to nerf Corki's P bomb they should nerf Zil for the same reason. But there are champs who do everything he does better. I have never lost lane to Zil supported Opp and I bet after the update I won't be seeing him as much as I use to.

It doesn't seem like he is going to keep you alive. In a team fight I catch hell trying to ult the right person. It would be cool of the CD was halved if it went unused. If it does get used and the target dies at an inopportune time, it just delays the inevitable. If the window of opportunity was 10 seconds like Mord I could see sending someone into battle with it.

The bombs are good for zoning but you soon run out of mana if you don't make them cost effective by landing some on champs. If they slowed on explosion that would be cool. I do like the new double bomb stun but.... I like Nami's bubble for half the effort.

No heal, shields, attack speed or damage enhance... that's for the birds. He has a speck of cc. HA HA I know all this is probably as obvious as saying Alistar is boring to play but just as true.

I guess if the pros are setting the standard on what is abusive I need to see some high level Zil play. Just one problem...

I guess I would play him cause I feel too badass playing more useful champs?

Is there a Zil main that can change my mind?
