What it takes to get S+ ranking.

This is an actual question I have. What does it take to get an S+ ranking? Are you only allowed to get one S+ ranking a day or only once on a champion? Is it based off damage dealt or damage taken? Or maybe even the amount of assist you have. Either way it was never stated what you have to do to get a S+.

Depends on what you're playing.

If it's something supposedly "OP" and is actually very popular, don't expect results. If it's something people hardly ever play, you can get an S+ by doing somewhat mediocre.

Also, if something can be taken to multiple lanes, if that champ is more popular as solo laners, and you're playing him as a support? You'll also have a very hard time. Yes, that means you have to get kills to get S+ on Lulu support.

That's the general math, though I can also go on with warding "scores", KDA, and creep scores.

Since Lulu/Sona are the only things I'm willing to master, here are the rarest examples of S+ games:

Role is taken into account, so you're not being compared to solo lane version of champs when you're supporting. The 'best' performances might have a handful of kills in addition to a ton of assists, but it's not like you need to get a ton of kills like how your champ when played in a solo lane might.

I would argue that KDA and creep score are not weighed as heavily as supports, than as solo laners do, and that kill participation and warding matters more, if anything.

Though I have heard of stories of how junglers have to "steal" their laners' farms just to get S+. As Gragas. Yeah, sounds kinda funny, right?

######Dumb Lulu support players screwing up everything really :^( these guys always take kills and ruins my beautiful scores for me.

Yeah the weightings are probably different, and I'm sure it's not truly perfect (and even knowing what 'perfect' play is in the first place is dubiously possible), so occasionally people taking cs/kills when they shouldn't might be interpreted by the grading as securing cs/kills while the carries are backing or something, but it's all a big feedback loop.

To expand on that, if a support is taking cs/kills, then the carry won't get as fed, which will mean the game overall might go poorly, which means the support will probably be stuck in a position where they can't get kills/assists since the enemy carries are comparatively fed, and so in the long run their score ends up worse compared to if they played like a 'good' support.

If the support can ks/cs and still have the game snowball, then I expect they can get away with it and it'll seem like a good performance rating wise (and I mean, it was if the game was that snowbally), despite that not generally being viewed as appropriate support behavior.

In an ideal game where supports don't KS at all... as a support main since the darkest ages of season 3, not taking ANY kills is a total piece of cake (or I just suck at this game but looks like a good player because of supporting). Though more often, it's that ONE early kill that got me to win botlane super easily because of the ability to rush sightstone, and that at most 30% of total botlane kills is how much a support should take. Sounds funny, but it is true and when that happens, 90% win lane. Vision advantage is that powerful. And you're also right, when a support takes too many kills, he ends up putting his ADC behind by a lot in the end, and that's also how I won games.

I would argue that it's not too different, because too many times... I don't get S+ unless my KDA is looking very sharp, so in the end KDA does matter to some extent. Though if supports "grades" are weighed down the more kills they take (like anything more than some PERCENTAGE of kills), that'd be interesting. But of course, should also depend on the champ.

Just my 2 cents about those kind of stuff in general.

Ok so I'm thinking since I use to play alot of taric top and not alot of people play it if I get a sightstone or just use trinket will it get an auto S+? I'm going to try this out.

edit: it didnt work as I thought it would so I'm going to assume that role matters. http://imgur.com/G0HeYFI

ya i got S on taric my first game because no one plays him (until rework)

Better collect the S ranks before he gets reworked!

Moar cs. You had the most gold but at 28:27 there should be more minions killed. It looks for a large variety of factors (like warding) so just look it up and fix those.

if warding seriously matters, im going to buy a sightstone every game and just place 50 wards at fountain, unless vision assists from wards is what determines it

Mysticman891 votes

They have indicated that while warding is taken into account, spamming wards at fountain will not help.

It's not clear how smart the algorithm is in terms of measuring warding, but they assure us that even if we knew the algorithm, we'd still pretty much be playing to win instead of being able to game it somehow.

i see the losing team get S's easier than the winners some times

It's based on your percentile performance compared to all other players on that champion in that role, so there aren't absolute numbers required, and the cut off will vary as more performances happen. An S+ for examples requires a performance in the top 2% of all performances on that champ in that role.

The champ/role mattering means what's required will vary greatly from role to role and champ to champ.

mosdeadly1 votes

Interesting. So if you were playing; lets say, juggernaut rework skarner you would be able to get 50/2 and still no S+? That's really kinda cool.

Mysticman891 votes

If more than 2% of other players did better than that (kda isn't everything though, 'performance' is a broad term), then yeah you wouldn't get an S+ then. Some champs that are popular in high elos (e.g. janna) and/or get completely out of control (e.g. kat) are can feel really unfair to get S's on, since you can litterally go 2/0/20 or 20/0/2 respectively and still not be up to S+ standards (again I'm oversimplifying since lots more than kda matters but point is you can do great in absolute terms but if enough other players did really great, it won't get you an S+).
