Need some advice on how to do mid - late game decisions to get the win

This may sound odd but I only struggle with this when I'm top or mid instead of ADC. On ad I honestly believe I'm always better than my opponent and prove it every time by winning lane. And I know what to do, get bot lane tower, rotate mid lane, force a fight and get mid or just seige it down, get other objectives , group, push, win. But IDK how to do it in other roles, in fact I almost always lose when playing anything besides ADC. IDK what to do and how to do it when playing top/mid.i know this is a really odd thing but can anyone help me out with this?
