So, with the release of Ivern I see no reason not to allow Tahm Kench to devour large monsters

Malicious Metal··148 votes·4,639 views

So, I might be a tiny bit biased since my brother tends to play Tahm Jungle quite often but I always wonder why his devour can't be used on Jungle monsters to help big ol' Two-coats clear the Jungle.

His clear speed is already pretty low and most other popular Junglers can gank easier and farm harder.

For the sake of counterplay make him apply three stacks of his passive first before devouring to make his invades not as BS as say Ivern or Syndra throwing your blue around.

I like this idea. I never thought Tahm was a problem in Jungle or Top, only in support where saving the ADC for seconds from any decision was a bit toxic.

Imo he was a bit difficult top lane because trying to trade with him ended up with you getting eaten and losing a bunch of life because of it (combined with how long the stacks lasted, it felt impossible to ever trade). Bringing that old damage to bot lane effectively made him a bruiser support.

Personally I enjoy his ability to save people more than his ability to trade (I honestly found his damage to be a bit excessive when he had one of the best single targeted peels in the game) but trying to balance someone around being a support and a top laner is going to lead to some damage issues.

Fair enough. I am just bias because I counter him on Shyvana and meanwhile in bot lane it was frustrating to face him as Leona XD

This is anecdotal based on very few games of mine, but I actually got my shit beat in by a Leona as Tahm and after experiencing that, I did the same to other Tahms as Leona.

Generally he counters her as he can deny her engage and he is a very strong anti-tank. Personal experience can often vary.

Awoof1 votes

The thing is, he cannot deny her engage per se, he can swallow his adc. I found it to be rather easy to beat Tahm himself up when he tries to protect his adc (or in general). Not that I'm trying to state that as a fact, quite possible that won't work when everyone is at a higher skill level. Also I may be becoming a bit off-topic lol

I enjoy his ability to be a tank duelist top more than saving a whiny carry

and you should talk about balancing around top and support when Sion excels at both

Tahm was 100% balanced right after they took away his W movespeed, but for some reason they gutted his E and shifted all his damage to the early game

Ralanr2 votes

Considering how his eating ability is what he's built around, it made more sense to balance him around where it was most useful.

And I don't even want Sion to be played support. He was intended for top, I don't want to see him become a meta support like Blitzcrank.

THE RlVER KlNG7 votes

And Riot said at Tahm's release that he is a tank who can go top and support, but have since done everything in their power to force him out of top, and have also killed his jungle.

He even used to be picked in the LCS as a Rumble and Poppy counter after her release but is now exclusively a support pick, and even then he is literally a Devour bot who loses most games he's picked.

If they want him to be a support then take away his passive damage and buff accordingly. If they want him to cooexist as a solo and support tank then increase his W cooldown and give him his old E and R damage back.

I don't want Tahm to get shafted as a niche support. He was intended to do well in both roles, but there you go.

Ralanr2 votes

I learned long ago that everyone is balanced around one role and that off roles that are balanced are happy accidents. Even if Riot says that they could do Y, they will be balanced around X even if it kills Y.

But then you get weird situations where they are suddenly better a Y than they will ever be at X (Vi).

THE RlVER KlNG4 votes

Then come out and say it and do it right instead of keeping both roles weak because buffing one will break the other; which is a myth in the first place, Tahm has been a balanced top and support before.

Quinn balanced around 1 position?

Oh Forums you crack me up.

Karma BALANCED AROUND 1 POSITION

Hahahahahahah!

Graves BALANCED AROUND 1 POSITION RIGHT?

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Ralanr1 votes

Can't say I've seen Graves's anywhere outside of jungle. And rarely do I see Quinn outside of top.

Karma can go fuck herself though.

General Theritt1 votes

Graves top, Quinn jungle, and both can ADC if the current ADCs with lethality (MF, Varus, Ashe, Jhin) are banned.

I agree 100%. On the big camps now, he can't eat the little babies and throw them at the big one.

Oleandervine6 votes

Why is Ivern the benchmark for this? Syndra has been able to W large monsters for years.

Malicious Metal38 votes

Because he's a Jungler. You don't see Jungle Syndra invading you and snatching away your buffs.

No, but she could. I've bumped into several situations where I've had Blitzcrank steal the buff I'm starting on from behind the wall and let his jungler get the kill. It's possible to do the same with Syndra.

Faceroll Tactics4 votes

Um, the enemy team can kill a buff at level 1/2 before the aggro resets and it heals?

I'm calling bs on that

Darkwind11 votes

Ofc you can. You just let the other team leash it for you before you pull it over :^)

Faceroll Tactics2 votes

Ok that makes more sense.

Don't you dare consider it.

Not for another week or so you won't. ;) Lol

What if he didn't eat the camps, but bit them, doing magic damage nunu style.

Not true damage, just for clarification.

We don't like champions offering utility alongside the damage and tankiness they have, even if they are immobile, easily kited, and loses 75% of their lane matchups

Glad people are finally give new champions who were completely forgotten some love We just have to wait for Illaoi and Kindred to be noticed

Laxfan521 votes

Kindred was noticed and was very strong until she got repeatery nerffed and then the jungle got changed

Quepha2 votes

Ivern seems like a great example for why Tahm Kench should never get this ability. Experienced Ivern players achieve nearly a 60% winrate in solo queue and he's a top tier jungler in pro games. His jungle clear is miles beyond what any other champion can do, he's basically Nunu with a better clear and more useful abilities in addition to that clear speed.

Auz the Ripper2 votes

ivern's ganks are also significantly better than TK's because of his unconditional long-ranged root from Rootcaller and the fact he doesn't have to sacrifice his largest damage source to help save an ally

PapaGreg211 votes

Ivern's rootcaller is so slow that most people can easily avoid it unless he's right next to you.

GigaPube1 votes

ivern and tahm kench are COMPLETELY different champions....

Zedex3 votes

He means their power budgets are vastly different, therefore doing something like that would require additional tweaking to Tahm, or even Ivern to keep him unique.

Or maybe thats just what I mean..

Horse Grenades1 votes

Definitely what you mean

GigaPube1 votes

the ridiculous thing here is comparing tahm kench to ivern at all

with the release of Ivern I see no reason not to allow Tahm Kench to devour large monsters

are you actually serious here?

camille has 2 autoresets on 1 button, why dont we change every autoreset to apply twice then ffs...

JhamSleaz1 votes

His cleats honestly aren't that bad. Go Tiamat with the new shaclone build and he clears quickly while taking minimal damage. I am a fan of this idea though

THE RlVER KlNG4 votes

Tahm has probably the worst level 1 clear of anyone in the "i can sort of jungle" group

his transitions are poor and his ganks rely heavily on the perfect ult, he has no dragon threat and can't keep up with pretty much any meta jungler

My Waifu Vanilla1 votes

Honestly even letting him stack his passive on them for the damage would help a lot in the jungling department (or even just putting gray health as his passive and having E only work on the active only that way he has sustain before level 3-ish).
