"Coin gets so much gold because it doesn't get combat stats"
That argument is like justifying getting Ornn's forge items in the early/mid game: Why worry about the bells and whistles on THIS item when I got other items I'd rather have? Lemme lay this out right quick:
-
I'm
, and I started
. I get my early lane pressure and the game goes well for me. Later on I get my
, get my
and possibly
or
and I win the game. Easy peasy. -
I'm
, starting
. I get overpowered in lane and, as a late game scaling champion, I go through the wringer trying to keep afloat in the game. I may make it to
, but by this time the game may be all but over if I didn't play my cards right or get carried hard enough to bounce back during the meantime. Thus, I could very much lose like this.
....or
-
I'm
, starting
. I get an early game lead, which is only amplified a crap ton by my gold item pumping out gold for kills and assists on top of having more gold gen than the other gold items. I win lane, and I basically snowball to the point where my build can look like
and the game's basically impossible to throw unless my team intentionally chimps out for a solid 10 minutes. -
I'm
, starting
. I get beat early...but it's fine because this thing gets gold so dang easily that I can scale back into the game, land my
core, and basically bounce all the way back into the game out of nowhere so long as my team just stays together rather than yolo-queuing.
See, the issue is that enchanters are, ultimately, walking stat sticks...save Nami (as per usual). Riot sort of refuses to make a modern enchanter, so all enchanters are relics of a time where everything was pretty stat-check-ish in nature. How do you get stats? Gold. What does coin do? Pump out a ridiculous amount of gold. No one cares that coin itself isn't the coolest in terms of stats. The point is that it's the catalyst to get a better build faster. I don't build Watcher's because "It's a super op item that's key to my game play". I build Watcher's because I need vision. Oasis, however, gives that vision and makes getting the items I ACTUALLY want significantly easier. It's basically the reason someone was able to play Sona to rank 1 Challenger at one point (Consensual Clown...Idk his current handle, but it's something with Clown).
So what's the real downside to coin? What's the excuse this time to why we don't nerf this overpowered safety net?
paradigm,
blue for risky power
or
red for consistency
and when it comes to any game... consistency is usually the better option
