When is Merello going to get to poppy

Angry Monster··4 votes·1,046 views

First macnoon ran poppy. Now UoL are running poppy.

Its time merello filled his promise if poppy ever got viable she would be hit on the head again with the nerf bat.

Sadly the fact that poppy is viable again proves that we have be in negative power creep for 3 seasons. Champs like poppy and ireilla who were consistently gutted to not be viable cause of their problematic game play. Now after 3 seasons of nerfs the problematic champs are considered good again.

When merello or any game play designer talks about power creep remember how many times ireilla was nerfed and how she is good again.

Gutting a champion simply because they dont make "Big LCS plays" is stupid, and that seems to be what you are pushing for.

Leave Poppy Alone. No more olafings need to happen.

The fact that morello would even say that he would nerf a champ as soon as they became viable is idiotic. Her rework is coming soon anyways, and no one plays her. Leave her alone. She is just as good as she was before patch 4.20, and us Poppy mains can attest to that.

Angry Monster2 votes

No one plays her.... WHAT!!!!!!!!

You are not following the pro scene.

Rinky Dinky3 votes

She has seen no where near as much play as other champions (Lee Sin, Lucian, etc)

Plus, the team that is currently using her successfully has also pulled off various other non meta picks. If anything, they are telling the meta to go **** itself, and i love it. Nerf a champ because she isnt part of the Meta? Really?

If Poppy gets nerfed, while Lee Sin, Orianna, and various others do get touched at all, then Riot has proved itself to be incapable. There are much bigger fish to fry besides Poppy and Irelia.

Angry Monster2 votes

the problem is not how much. The fact that she viable is the issue. The kit is pretty broken and merello stated her being viable is a issue for game health. Which is why she should be nerfed again.

Rinky Dinky2 votes

Again, there are much worse offenders of champions being unhealthy. Orianna, a utility mage whom does god tier amounts of damage is a prime example.

If Poppy is gonna be taken down, than alot of other champs need to go with her.

Angry Monster2 votes

You did not read the post. MORELLO SAID IF POPPY was VIABLE. This has nothing to do with being OP. But a kit that is unhealthy for the game.

Thx for not reading or comprehending

Rinky Dinky1 votes

That is my entire point. Nerfing a champion solely because they are viable is stupid. You seem to be the one who cant comprehend my friend.

Your argument was that her kit was toxic, thus she is not allowed to be viable. My counter argument, there are worse offenders than poppy at being viable and they have a HIGHER pickrate.

I don't know why it is so hard for you to understand this very simple concept.

Why must champion A be gutted for reason A, when champion B is a much bigger offender of reason A, and is also an offender of reasons B and C.

Angry Monster1 votes

you are bronze 1 trash and do not understand that the kit of poppy was determined by riot is SEASON 1/2 that poppys kit is not a healthy kit. She does not promote healthy game play and was nerfed to near complete unviability. There is nothing healthy about her current kit as is.

You bronze idiots think cause its in game means it is good for the game. Where is the healthy play where a champ can ignore 4 the damage and effects of 4 other champs but still hit them and the one champ that can effect poppy take bonous damage. Plus poppy gets ton of free defensive stats in her kit.

PLus it has long been stated by DEVs that poppy if ever viable with her current kit because of its game warping nature must be Nerfed to oblivion again. It is time for them to follow through.

LoL the point is that your bronze 1 and your opinion and what is toxic is not valid and you have no points. You are not good enough to know what good game play is..

Riot deteremented that poppy was toxic not me. I am saying merelleo should stay true to his words.

Also viable has to mean played at the competive level since that is the highest level of play we have in league. Trash does not get played at LCS.

Rinky Dinky1 votes

lol this guy.

Looking at your post history, I can see that this is not going to be a productive thread or conversation.

Also, the Gold V has no buisness dictating game balance. Your division is more toxic and anti fun than mine will ever be.

Have a good day, and continue to be a **** on these boards. It makes people laugh.

Angry Monster1 votes

please. trash should know they are trash.

Rinky Dinky1 votes

Yet you exist.

Angry Monster1 votes

you obviously do not know how to hold an argument/discussion. At every point you ignored what i said and put yoru trash bonze logic in place. I have Riots own comments backing me, what you have is nothing.

And i am pretty sure no one really thinks you matter.

Rinky Dinky1 votes

Dude, you literally just repeated what I said to you.

You actually just described yourself completely. I have given a counter argument for every garbage response you have produced. Try Again. I want to believe that a "gold mlg pro" cannot be this.... hmmm...... bad?

Rinky Dinky1 votes

Again, using slander and throwing out false accusations is not holding an argument. It is being a Bigot.

Riot "backing you up", which they have not said anything of the sort recently, is not true.

You knowing what you are talking about is also faulty.

You don't know what being viable means either.

You are a walking case of contradictions and misconceptions.

Bronze or not, even I can see that.

Healthy doesn't mean balanced. It means balanceable. Numbers on kits have nothing to do with champion health. Orianna might be overtuned, but she's a super healthy champion.

Poppy's current kit is not healthy. She cannot exist in a balanced state. If she becomes good enough to play, she breaks teamfight mechanics.

Rinky Dinky1 votes

Yes, Orianna was a bad example.

Sightless661 votes

Dude, Poppy is like the definition of LCS big plays. She pushes people into walls and ults to ignore teams and wreck someone's face. Those plays are huge. Maybe that's why Morello is going back on his promise.

FyshinaTux2 votes

Personally, I think the changes to the regen stat were a benefit to poppy, considering that the regen stat is what actually makes Poppy tanky while maintaining her passive. Just my thoughts on the matter, haven't done any math or tried it out to see, but I feel like poppy will have some nerfs coming in soon enough.

Angry Monster1 votes

She was used in the the relegation tournament (eu or na). Which was pre patch 4. 20 and merello said at that point he would look into it.

IF the regen changed made her even more viable then her numbers should be hit even sooner. Her kit (especially ult) is pretty problematic.

FyshinaTux1 votes

you mean the expansion tournament? with looked to me like it was NOT on patch 4.20? Because Maknoon used her in the Expansion Tournament, which I just watched today on youtube, and it was NOT on the updated Summoner's Rift. I'm watching UoL use her right now at IEM against C9, and this one IS on patch 4.20.

EDIT: bah, I missed the "pre" before your "patch 4.20" disregard that portion of my comment, but I do believe you mean the Expansion Tournament. <3

Angry Monster1 votes

no i meant relegation that happened before the current expansion. When clg and other teams had to fight for their spots to stay in the LCS. Expansion is currently happening and to take the leagues to 10 teams from 8.

FyshinaTux1 votes

Oh, I didn't know that she was used in relegation, I must have missed a game or two of that tournament. :o

I still say that she'll be pretty boss this preseason with the changes to regen. We'll see I suppose, but I stand by that thought process.

Rebonack2 votes

Gutting Poppy?

What are you talking about?

Aside from reducing the base damage on her Q from 180 to 100 a few patches after she was released Poppy has never ever been nerfed aside from global changes that hit everyone.

Angry Monster2 votes

LOL she was gutted way back, Season 1 and 2. Around the same time ireillia was.

Eve The Ripper2 votes

Non-viable champs can do well now and again.

Also, I just watched the game, and it was kind of gross how poorly they handled her. First, she was constantly farming without any repercussions. She's not a quick farmer either...you can really punish her team if she's off in another lane. Second, they were constantly wall-hugging. That time when they approached her split push, Maokai was sliding along his turret wall and got slammed, then Orianna stood still in the same place Mao got slammed at for like three seconds, allowing a second stun.

I don't think she's as good as she looked there...

Angry Monster2 votes

no she is. She is tricky and you can not just pick her up and do well. But with some time and practice is works. The proof really is MacNoon, do you think he would risk his chances to get in to the LCS if she was not viable?

Eve The Ripper2 votes

I haven't seen that game yet, but the announcer made it sound like the last time this guy played Poppy, it did not go well. Could be a different guy, for all I know; I don't follow the pro scene.

I imagine that, by viable, Morello meant that she was a reasonable pick under average conditions. As in, in any particular game, there was a chance of seeing a Poppy. Right now, it seems she's being picked under very narrow criteria and is not showing up and is not dominating, so I don't think he's going to suddenly Eve-bat her. If he does, he's not getting any cupcakes for christmas _

EDIT: Watched the last few minutes of the game. In teamfights, they did much better...totally shut Poppy down. Don't think I saw a banshee's, but I'm pretty confident in saying her ult isn't bad enough to qualify her as a broken champ.

FyshinaTux1 votes

Morello didn't say that she'd be nerfed again, Morello said that when Poppy is "competitively viable" (I believe he said if she does well in a tournament, don't remember the exact wording), he would literally nerf her into permanent unviability until she was reworked.

Angry Monster1 votes

Actually you are wrong, Merello clearly stated that if poppy was viable that she would be nerfed due to the problematic kit. This was pre season 4 and nothing about her kit has changed to make her kit any better.

The fact her ult weakness her target, and makes here invulnerable to everyone else is a game play issue.

FyshinaTux1 votes

Actually, he said he would nerf her into permanent unviability, give me a year to find the comment and I'll paste it here with a source.

If I'm wrong, I'll gladly apologize for being misinformed, if I'm right, I expect an apology in return. Fair enough? :D

Angry Monster1 votes

we are saying pretty much the same thing... She is being played competitive Which is why i made the post.

FyshinaTux1 votes

Yet you said I was wrong?

Angry Monster1 votes

cause you said

Morello didn't say that she'd be nerfed again

merello did say she would be nerfed if she was found viable. I never said she was going to randomly nerfed. I have been talking about her resurgence in competitive play.

Eve The Ripper1 votes

we are saying pretty much the same thing... She is being played competitive Which is why i made the post.

She's being played in tournys, but that doesn't make a champion competitive. The fact that it's newsworthy speaks to that. More likely, there's something in her kit that the team wishes to exploit for some specific strategy.

Also, I can't take people who call her kit broken (not talking about you OP) too seriously when it's compared to other kits. It's definitely unhealthy, but it is, at worst, conditionally anti-fun. No one who loses to Poppy can say 'I lost because that is a silly champion design and I had no reasonable chance to fight it.'

Angry Monster1 votes

How does LCS level teams player not make her competitive?

MacNoon used to play in OGN. UOL is a current LCS team.

If pull a champ out at that level is not competitive or viable we need to work on the meaning of words here.

Eve The Ripper1 votes

Her ult doesn't 'weakness' her target, w/e that means. It does increase her damage versus them, which is maybe what you were trying to say.

At any rate, while Poppy was once problematic, we're now in an era of champions that are considered trash-tier unless they're problematic. Her ult has gameplay issues, but her overall kit is still very sub-par in terms of actually getting things done. The fact that she has to hit people into walls to access a large chunk of her damage early-mid game and all of her cc means she starts off well below your standard fighter. In addition, she needs some damage to function well, so she tends to blow up without her ult even with her passive. Then there's the lack of sustain, low early mana/mregen and rather unreliable charge terrain detection...

She really doesn't need the Eve treatmeant. She's playable, just not competitive.

Angry Monster1 votes

UoL played her today at IEM FINALS. MacNoon just stomped a few weeks ago in the expansion tournament. How is she not competive?

I guess pros just randomly pick champs

Rinky Dinky1 votes

If playing a champ once makes the competitive, then Olaf is officially a competitive pick.

Hail the Berserker. Hail Gragy Ice.

Hecarim is as well. Go Bronies!

Angry Monster1 votes

Hec has been picked more than once. And he is viable

The condition was if she became viable not if she was super OP. You seem to think the two mean the same thing.

Morello said is she became a viable pick she would get nerfed. This has nothing to be about super strong.

Linna Excel1 votes

Who's Merello? Is that's Morello's evil twin?

Eve The Ripper1 votes

:o

I've always wanted to be bronze 1 trash; they seem to have so much more fun.

Quepha1 votes

does it really count when it's UoL that uses her?

Angry Monster1 votes

So the fact that they beat TSM(NA number 1 seed from last split) 2-0 means nothing.

Really? I am not saying they are the best in the world but they have shown that can play at the competitive level. They also took out millennium during the regulation tournament.

it's more that they've repeatedly picked weird comps and champions and it seems like they're doing it less because they think they're secret OP as much as it throws their opponents off guard because they haven't seen it before.

like, tryndamere is kindof a similar champion to poppy, he's weak early but gets big damage with a stupid defensive steroid on his ult. he can just charge in, kill a squishy, and leave. but he's also manaless, has better sustain, has a little waveclear on his dash, and has better mobility. Did UoL learn and pick poppy over tryndamere because they think she's stronger than him or because they think TSM probably knows how trynd plays a lot better than poppy and would be able to quickly figure out how to deal with him while they might have to pull up a wiki page to even remember what poppy's kit is.

Angry Monster1 votes

you say weird i say next level. They show a deeper understanding of the game and are showing it.

And again MacNoon took poppy in standard comps.

Linna Excel1 votes

Okay, I saw the match and while Poppy was a factor in the game she wasn't so big the other team couldn't win (and the other team did win). Was she able to terrorize the carries? Yes, but that's what Poppy does, she terrorizes carries. Visichachi build her to be very fragile (pure damage/chasing) so she was pretty weak when her ult was down.

Angry Monster1 votes

Not the point. Point is that she is viable. Poppy was a problem that they had to send 4 men to try to p ick off so they could do something. IT was not that she was that fed but the kit it problem matic. Go watch MacNoons games and say he wasnt key to victory.

Viable does not mean so OP that she carries no matter what. That was not a condition STATED BY RIOT for her kit to be nerfed again.,

Eve The Ripper1 votes

^This guy is on to something~

While they managed to handle Poppy after the first teamfight, they clearly displayed a lack of understanding on an individual level. If they were against Tryndamere, I imagine there wouldn't have been a window for UoL to exploit.
