Fiddlesticks is desperate for an update both for aesthetic and gameplay reasons

Fidds is a great champion with interesting gameplay despite his antiquated kit. Crow storm is and will always be one of the coolest and most impactful Ultis in the game and from a gameplay standpoint very few champions really spell doom like a perfectly placed fiddlesticks engage. However, the guys got major league aesthetic and clarity issues that in my opinion seat him as a higher visual priority than other champions who have been discussed. What are those? Allow me to explain.

Aesthetic needs:

-Static model. Fiddle has a bouncing, tilty walk animation like old Twitch, an autoattack and a single spell action (arms outstretched as if to say "boo") which serves as the tell for Drain, Terrify AND Crowstorm. 3 spells with very different impacts with the same animation-but we'll get to that later. What Fiddles needs is a real animation rig, he's a gangly scarecrow held together with string with a cloth body, the guy shouldn't move like a moonwalking astronaut he should stride like Jack Skellington. Give him the Slasher movie monster walk, no matter how fast you run Fiddlesticks is RIGHT BEHIND YOU.

-No conspicuous "source of power." Fiddlesticks throws a crow from his hand, and autoattacks with his puny microscythe but then just has spells that kind of emanate from his body. Visually, the only apparent weapon is the scythe, but he hardly uses it at all. The VU shod center on the scythe and his mouth as sources of power: make him hold it two handed across his chest, giving it a more powerful swing and more satisfying slicing noise. You can also have him give a gesture of command with the scythe to call to the crow rather than simply throwing it. Drain (explained later) should center obviously on his mouth as he slurps out the soul of his victim-but currently drain has more gameplay issues than aesthetic.

Gameplay Clarity Issues (the list is long)

-Terrify is the biggest offender. It's got very little animation, no particle, and a subtle noise, and it's one of the most potent ccs in the game. Terrify needs a more obvious noise and maybe a split-second screen darken effect like a Nocturne ult (but much briefer). Fiddlesticks could even keep a similar animation to current as long as it gets replaced on his other moves.

-Drain is a leash. The big issue right now is no immediate way to tell how far you need to go to get out of it. Beyond that, it needs an animation distinct from Terrify to help distinguish to an enemy what he's doing immediately. I would suggest in order to solidify his mouth as a source of power, fiddlesticks should lean towards his target with the green stream leading into his mouth. To distinguish how far they still need to run to get away, have the stream grow thinner and finally snap as they move away from fiddles.

-his ult, specifically the channel portion, leaves enemies no indicator of when that channel will complete, which is as important as it is with recall as Fidd will usually try to use it in a bush. I'd say that would be easily solved by a brief animation-and why not play with the Scarecrow theme a little bit? Have fiddlesticks hop up on a wooden stake in the classic scarecrow pose, completely motionless except for his eyes, which begin to grow brighter and brighter as a flock of crows swirls and gathers around him.

Riot, please consider Fiddles for a VU soon. Unique among all old champions now, he is just massively unclear as to what he's doing, and Gia model is incredibly outdated and just doesn't hit it's full spooky potential.

Sounds like you've really thought this out and it's really cool. We definitely need more scythe and dps action. Honestly, I wish they'd make Fiddle a melee champion and increase his move speed to compensate just so we could have a real auto attack for him instead of that weird shockwave we got in A Twist of Fate.

That would be a huge shift in gameplay and would destroy all but his jungle game for no real reason unfortunately. I think just a more satisfying swing and sfx would suffice-as I said gameplay wise his kit works fine.

What's the problem with that? Annie got support-specific nerfs, Soraka and Lulu both got mid-specific nerfs, Riot is constantly pigeon-holing champions into their intended role and Fiddlesticks is a much more common jungler than he is mid or support these days.

That's because those roles were warping the picks in the role. Annie was bullying out champs who could only be played support-and what possible reason would fiddlesticks have to be Nerfed?

Has nothing to do with him being nerfed. It's about buffing his jungle. Giving Fiddlesticks a higher move speed would make his pre-6 ganks more reliable, and even help his ultimate deal more consistent damage. In exchange for that, he gets less reliable auto-attacks, but he has no real reason for being ranged in the first place. Plus, more move speed is always welcome in the jungle, where you actually have to constantly move in order to farm.
