The new support items are healthy, but supports really do deserve another source of gold income.

Having one to buy off the bat and another they or supportive junglers can invest in at their own leisure would help enable supports to earn gold throughout the mid-lategame. Something like:

Philosopher's Boots 1100g 55 ms UNIQUE Passive: Gain 5 gold per 10 seconds. Gain 2 gold whenever a nearby friendly champion slays a neutral or enemy unit (2 second cooldown).
sells for 300g

Supports can then pick between investing in damage in item 3020, map mobility in item 3117 or future item investments in Philosopher's Boots. With these plus the current support items, tank supports would be able to reasonably invest in finished tank items!

Solo laners and carries wouldn't typically want something like Philosopher's Boots because immediate stats are much more valuable for them and it would only earn them 5 gold per 10 in lane at the cost of having access to other valuable tier 2 boots. It's quite an investment, but supports could opt to work their way towards buying them early on and then have a steady gold income for the rest of the game. Philosopher's Stone was abused in lane in early seasons thanks to its regen; these have a bit of extra mobility than normal tier 2 boots but nowhere near as much as mobi boots and no combat stats, as well as a steeper cost than the old gp10 items including the ability to invest in other tier 2 boots like the above or Tabi/Treads.

Philosopher's Boots would pay for themselves in 25 minutes assuming an average income of 7 gold per 10 seconds from the item, but considering its 55 movespeed it would take around 10 minutes to pay for the lack of other stats, maybe even less time if next to someone in laning phase. Top laners wouldn't want it because the lack of valuable defensive items and poor sell cost wouldn't permit them to abuse it, supportive junglers might buy it which there should be no problem with, mids can't afford to give up their old boots and bot definitely doesn't want to invest in it either over the stat stick that is BF sword or immediate pushing power, or . This would a support item by nature.

ALSO WORTH NOTING: Supports getting first blood early on will be more relevant thanks to these boots as they can put the gold towards rushing them! Supports KS'ing bot at early levels has been a bane for their own team, but now they can put that gold towards these and have a comparable advantage to marksmen buying BF sword in early lane, making them securing kills largely justified early game when it most often might come to having to secure kills as support.

It wouldn't have to be exactly this item that fills the void of gold income that supports have right now; many others would do but only if they were in this vein. I just personally like this idea and honestly don't see a downside to adding these to the game. Supports just need one more gold item that they can feasibly invest in and feasibly reap the long-term rewards from, preferrably before preseason is over rather than months afterwards in a sloppy fashion when the meta has already taken shape.

Dark harvest works pretty well if you stack it at securing some mid and late game gold spikes. Your teammates wont exactly appreciate it however.

Tell me why everyone wouldn't just rush these boots and play much safer scaling champs and draw games out to 30+ minutes?

Just give the support items all the old bandit passive. 5 gold on enemies every auto. 20 for the sickle.
