How Does One Compel Teammates To Not Only Listen But Also ACT on What is Being Said?

TL;DR: Starts with a story how I come to my point so if you can't be bothered with something as simple as reading, I'm going to ask you just leave right now and save BOTH of us a headache plus the irritable mood which soon follows.

I have not logged onto League for a reasonable while now, mostly being occupied by other games but also partially due to not being able to hype myself for yet another match where teammates actively refusing to co-ordinate and use sensible judgment calls.

Remembering back to a couple matches I joined an IRL-friend's queue full-premade (not my most recent but still not horrendously far back), I was stuck jungling despite him knowing I do not like jungling and have proven myself horrendous at it, so bad at it that I have to rely on using Nunu when I only ever support using said champion (even then, I had found myself leaning to more engage-heavy supports with better tanking potential prior to this change in playing style).

This particular pair of games just cemented what I got from solo-queue games in that if I see that, for the purposes of this argument, they would FAR and away exceed and expediate their ability to snowball (heh, again, Nunu) more effectively than I ever could, I want to be a good teammate and give the various lanes jungle buffs, possibly enemy jungle if it just so happens to work out that way if they are in a favourable position to safely leave lane for all of 30-40 seconds or less depending on how far into the game we are.

I ping, I type in chat, I KNOW they're not on Skype or something so they aren't too wrapped up in chatting it up without me. They just mindlessly farm, push into tower and linger there until they get 3v1'd and it's not that I had the ability to help them (read: save them, I can help but not significantly enough to make it worth the risk/reward.

This sort of mindset is far from being limited to a couple of games in a full pre-made, like I briefly mentioned earlier. This extends itself in many different ways to virtually every aspect of the game.

How is it that by being well-intentioned, actively trying to communicate both in pings and chat, not to mention just flat out being generous and thinking about the overall picture instead of being stuck in a form of tunnel-vision that opens you up to the most lopsided and unjustified personal attacks on your being is so, SO hard for people to get through their heads?

I don't play LoL to be the superstar and go 30/0. I play to be a teammate but everyone is so wrapped up in trash-talking, bragging, or generally doing everything in their power to shave off 3 or 4 minutes off the match by trying to be fancy and make big plays (which usually don't happen, like flashing over river wall when no one else has theirs up at the time, or getting greedy trying to get that last AA or two on someone under turret with a couple of backed up minion waves pushing against the rapidly dying meat puppets you have from being targeted while only at a quarter-health.

Why do people play a team game when they just consider it a race against the other people on their team to complete whatever arbitrary personal goals they have and just HAPPEN to win as a resulting side-bonus (effectively making it a 1v9 game)?

Also, hitting back for a brief moment to my earlier example: why do so many people refuse free gold/experience/buffs to, in turn, make their gameplay even more effective if they are so self-centred in the first place? That seems self-defeating in my eyes.
