Low Priority Should Be Punishing...But Not To The Point of Non-Communication Outside of Games

So, had some some ridiculous situations where I was forced away from my computer mid-game, power went out temporarily, etc. We all know the story, boo hoo, I deserve to take it up my ass because I should be able to predict things which I have zero control over. Whatever. It's happened enough times I'm on 20 minutes. Shit happens, I'm not going to argue about it because I'm not some self-important d-bag who thinks he should be catered to as it would be too easy to abuse and I agree with that notion. Exemptions would be exploited and I am sensible enough to see that.

I know it creates a bad experience for the teams I'm on when these situations occur and that, fairly enough (arguably, Riot is technically being MORE THAN FAIR about it all), I am punished. I AM IN NO WAY, SHAPE, OR FORM TRYING TO ARGUE THAT I DON'T DESERVE TO DO THE TIME. THIS IS NOT WHAT THIS THREAD IS ABOUT.

What this thread IS about, though, is that we should at least be able to use basic chat functions. Let's say someone on your friend's list invites you to a party or even just wants to message you. You are literally blocked from being able to respond to say so much as even say, 'sorry, guy, low priority queue, maybe next time'.

I COULD cancel my queue but if I just spent 15 minutes waiting in my queue, I'm not inclined to simply to tell someone they'd have to wait on me. I don't want to look like an asshole who doesn't want to play with them (because all they see is that I'm online and since I'm not in a queue already due to timer, they don't have any way of knowing the situation), but I'm not waiting ANOTHER 20 minutes just because of this because at that rate, it'd be literally easier to just play a different account altogether as not everyone has all day/night just to get a single game done before moving on to more pressing matters.

So please consider, just CONSIDER, changing how limited a player can be while under low priority queue. It's already bad enough that you can't browse the store, change runes or masteries, look at other people's profiles, etc. All you have is to either go afk while the queue finishes (not recommended for obvious reasons), open up something else to wait it out (depending on what it is, may or may not be the best idea), or stare at a timer that mocks you for daring to not uphold a perfect life situation where nothing detrimental ever happens for any reason whatsoever.

So, again, I know punishments should be punishing. You don't get to play the game for a while and you need to be committed to ensure good faith is restored that it was an honest series of mistakes or coincidental occurrences. I would happily wait out times in excess of an hour or more to get through it. Just don't sever any and all ways to communicate with others during this period. Solitary confinement while waiting out your timer borders on insulting.

Make the punishment fit the "crime" (as loosely as I use that term, given how subjective it is). If I was reported for toxicity via chat, I could understand not being able to send messages. However, since I wasn't...why is it just an auto-include?

I know I'll be downvoted to the fiery pits of Teemo-infused hell because I'm a filthy, filthy leaver (regardless of how it came to be), but I would like an actual conversation, not just a witch hunt blame game.

It's working fine.

Why should you be able to talk with your friends and enjoy yourself when you afk'd and ruined 20+ minutes of a game for 4 other people? Seems completely fitting that you have to sit there and wait 20 minutes because it's exactly what you did to other people. It's a perfect punishment fit the crime.

How does your power go out enough times to get leaverbuster 20 minutes

maybe use that time to do homework ? chores? walk the dog for 15 minutes? laundry? you can even eat during that time.

For you to get 20 minute leaver buster queues, you must have been constantly leaving your games.

I think you should then suggest an alternative punishment harsher than simply waiting longer. As you said, solitary confinement borders on insulting. So does leaving 9 other players in a crappy semblance of a game because you don't have a reliable connection or whatever reason. I think the punishment may here fit the crime.

After all, the other players in that game didn't simply have to wait, they had to play on in a crappy situation.

I'm not saying you're enitrely wrong. I hear what you're saying about a friend contacts you and you don't want it to come off like you are just snubbing her, but i still think there needs to be more of a punishment then just an extra-long queue time.
