Riot Says That Darius Isn't Good Enough For His 90% Ban Rate????

Okay, so after 5.18, Riot thought they nerfed Darius down to where he was needed. That is not really the case. Mainly, this is due to his Q. I don't mind that large amount of damage it can do, but a % health restore per target??? That is something that is very strong all on its own, yet it is on such a low cooldown where you can't Harrass him at all in lane, and Ganks are counter-productive against Darius mostly cause of his heal. Not to mention ganks at post 6....

Also, at level 18 and 5 stacks on his Passive, Darius gets 200 BONUS AD! Like WHAT THE HELL Riot.

Personally, I feel like Darius has far too much damage and influence to be truly balanced. To the point to which, unless hard countered, its nearly instant win in champ select.

I know I am whining about a broken champ and there is plenty of that on the forums then some. But this is just something that is in desperate need of getting fixed before Worlds at the very least. Increase his Cool Down on his Q, change the health % into a flat hp amount, and lower the bonus AD on his passive at least a little bit.

If Riot has an ulterior motive for making a strong champ before their rework into a garenteed winning monster, they should say something.

They are talking about doing the right thing which is making his Q heal a flat heal per target instead of % missing. I think that is the better way to go about it. However in his current form darius isn't strong if your team is smart. Damage him normally till around 50% THEN use your bursty spells that way he doesnt get his massive Q healing

a flat heal per target isnt really a good choice. they want him to stack health, and the best way to do that is to make his heal scaling on max/missing health %.

same reason they didnt just make fioras true damage fixed. different scalings promote different build pathes. low base damages and high bonus ad scalings cause champions to be effective when building all out damage (fioras case). high base damages and lower scalings promote more tanky builds.

if theyre concerned about his power in lane it would make more sense to have the heal % per target scale up with ranks of his q for example.

if they made this change, darius will just get played with ravenous hydra again to get more sustain.

I disagree, I have seen a Darius go from lower to half health to full health and sustain himself under turrets in 1v4's where he will win just cause of the health % and the low CD on his Q. For the mana cost on that ability, as well as the low CD, if they were to keep it a percentage, it should be at 5% per target, with a Max of 25%. That I would find fair, cause then Darius wouldn't be able to out-sustain all of his opponents.

First of all, I'd like to point out that Darius only gets the heal when he hits with the blade of his Q. So while it is a little counter-intuitive, staying close to Darius when he winds up denies him his healing. It's important counterplay that I think gets overlooked because staying near Darius has its own set of problems, but my point here is that his heal is NOT guaranteed.

Second, Darius's ban rate hasn't really fallen since the nerfs. Because people are still banning him the way they were in 5.16 and 5.17, its really impossible to see how the changes have affected him and whether he needs any further changes. Riot has mentioned possibly changing the heal mechanic, but until Darius is actually allowed into enough games that data can be collected, I doubt we'll see any more work on him.

So basically either all in and hope to kill or leave lane. Because you cant poke him down when his q is in your range.

First of all, Darius should be strong in a 1v1 situation, he is a lane bully and is intended to dominate in that fashion.

I'm also saying a lot of this as a shyvana main (jungle) so by the time I'm fighting him, I have lifesteal in some capacity. At that point, its to my advantage to stay inside his Q range to avoid the extra damage and his heal, all the while winning a trade; it doesn't have to be an all in. Just stay inside of his Q to avoid the heal then disengage.

I was also referring to situations where Darius is trying to kite multiple people. Staying inside his Q range denies him the healing that he is relying on to continue to kite.

I agree, Darius should be strong, but not as strong as he is at this point in time, a Darius shouldn't be able to out-sustain, out-damage, and out-tank every single one of his opponents like he currently does. Yes, his Q has counter-play, but when Darius goes in on you, you can either try your best to escape him and potentially live, or you could get close and let him faceroll you with his passive and auto-attacks.

The problem with Darius NOT being banned is entirely because he is a garenteed win in lane at this point, forcing the team against that Darius into either let Darius get fed and keep our laner behind, or TRY to camp him only for him to get a double kill potentially, as far as the risk involved with letting Darius see ranked play, it is far too risky till he loses at least most of his sustain from his Q and the pull from his E. But that would nerf Darius into the ground and there would be whiners about that.

Honestly, I feel as though champions such as Darius, Garen, and definitely Renekton, shouldn't be able to hyper carry and deal the most damage on their team while also taking the most damage. Someone who builds 1 or no damage items, shouldn't be able to decimate everything in their fights. Some of you will say "Well they can be kited, you are just a nub if you die to them" and yes, they can be kited to a degree, but most champions that need to be doing the kiting don't have as much self peel as they need and Darius has a pull and slow with some decent range at which he can deal damage and his ult can delete targets so fast its disgusting, Garen's Q removes slows and gives him a rather decent speed buff that lasts longer than most with a ranged ULT that can instantly delete certain targets with True Damage, and Renekton has a double dash AND a stun with a decent range for damage on his Q that also sustain's him similarly to Darius, albeit not to such a drastic degree.

Yes, each one of these champions have counter-play. But the fact is, when someone actually knows how to play these champions well, that counterplay is pretty much impossible to pull off.

Darius is way too strong right now and he won't really see a loss in pick/ban %s cause he is such a safe and over tuned pick for top lane.
