Why can't Supports have equal gold?

StoryDuck··1 votes·632 views

Don't get me wrong, I main support and I've had my fair share of games where I carry as support. I've just always been curious why they are always railroaded with a lack of gold and have to have substandard stats unless they get fed. Why can't item 3401 trigger 7 times? Why can't item 3092 generate 30 gold a proc? Why can't item 3069 provide 10 gold per minion dying near? Is it a fear that jungler's would become a thing of the past? Is it a fear that support items would replace normal items? Is it something else?

Because when your gold generation items are super-efficient, they tend to get picked up by abso-fucking-lutely everybody.

I see item 3092 as a potential problem but what about item 3401? It can't be used without someone else. item 3069 with 10 gold per minion death would still not be as profitable as killing the minions yourself.

Go take a look at the pro games that happened when Relic shield first came out.

It kinda sucks, I mean you could make it so that support items can only be picked up by people that take clarity or exhaust or something (Kinda how only smite takers can get a machete) and give them buffs or something but idk how thatd turn out.

most supports already have enough in their kits to support the lack of gold income that they have...

They can contribute yes, that's why they are supports. Their kits are designed to have an impact later in the game. However, some supports can run mid or top while others cannot. Lulu often gets picked as a top or mid to play as a powerful support instead of a substandard support. Why not allow supports to always feel that impactful?

Solo lane Lulu is/was absolute cancer to lane against when she was strong.

Same with old Soraka.

don't forget solo lane karma too

wait why did you just bring up a support playing in a solo lane??? ANY character in this game.. LITERALLY any character can be played in a solo lane. but that isn't the argument here. you complained that supports don't have enough gold, well if they are in a solo lane, I promise you they are getting plenty of gold because they are csing and possibly getting kills. so you can't bring up the fact "oh lulu in solo lane blah blah blah" when that isn't your original argument and has nothing to do with the "issue" you've originally stated sense solo laning gives plenty of income...

Just keep in mind that laning's gold is entirely dependent on CS, which is entirely Dependent on skill. Support items arn't.

In the LCS, the supports gold would pale in comparison to their counter parts. But in Bronze level YoloQ, they are not that far off. Frost queen's got it's GP10 nerfed after complaints about support having Mid level gold. coarse that would only happen if you have abysmal CS.

Supports don't have equal gold because they don't get cs. This is evened out by support utility items being cheaper than they should be (Mikaels, Locket, etc). The utility in the kits of the supports also make up for it.

Support items are not as gold efficient as most items, so supports are kind of getting screwed there.
