I did extremely well but still lost

Why should I have to lose LP?

I feel like I'm being punished for doing well

I dont want to waste my time with people who drag my games down. I will eventually get out after winning several luck of the draw matchups with more good players on my side than the other side.

If I do well, let me get LP, even if it's not much.

You are able to gauge how well someone does (D-S ranks), so translate that over into LP.

They don't like systems that are easily gamed.

With this, i can choose to play ONLY for "guaranteed" LP by playing a thoroughly selfish, farm heavy, no risk style. Even if i lose every game, i am guaranteeing LP gains without earning them. I will eventually climb despite having 0% win rate.

No you wouldn't lol. You'd lose a garunteed 10LP for a loss and the most you could get for doing well individually would be 10LP, so the best you could get would be 0Lp.

But that means if my team is losing and i want to limit my LP loss, i now start playing for my grade and not "the win". Now you see splitpushers and junglers do literally nothing but farm because CS and Deaths appear to be a larger factor than kills in a good grade and now "grade reduces LP loss in a defeat". That emphasized part is spooky to me.

I'd be tilted out of my mind watching jungle Yi give up on the game and do NOTHING but farm so he loses only 8 LP and the rest of the team lost 16 or whatever bc he got the farm first lol.

I agree, fwiw, the good players on a losing team should get -something- for their efforts. I do. I dunno if it should be LP, just because i do not believe the system can ever be sufficiently robust that it gets it right. I see it abused like crazy.

No, they are not. The grading system is horrible. It has no place in ranked.

Why should I have to lose LP?

Because you didn't win, whatever excuse you have doesn't matter.

I have always thought they should do a system that incorporates your individual play and the team result.

For example have a pool of 20lp that is tallied on the negative and positive sides.

say you lose 10 no matter what if your team loses the game and you gain 10 no matter what if your team wins.

That leaves a pool of 10lp to based on performance. So if you had just a beautiful game and your team still lost you'd gain 10 for performance and lose 10 for your team losing making you stay the same LP after.

Obviously a lot of thought would have to go into how much LP for individual vs team and what exactly is score for individual performance, but it seems like what should happen IMO.

I am against gaining LP in a losing effort because you could've used your lead better if you had a stellar game or you could've shot called better. On the other side though I dont think you should just get blasted in the ass for negative LP if you play super well and your team just int's.

If you lose the game you should still lose LP, but i see what you are saying. Maybe lose less LP.....for example if you go 19/3/9 as zed and get as S you'd lose only 15 LP whereas the player that fed and afk'd loses the extra LP you did not lose....25???? The only thing wrong with this though is you might still be the reason your team lost. You might have been chasing kills instead of pushing objectives and winning the game. Or not letting your adc that is behind to farm when you are full build. Or dying a couple times back to back and the other team winning off of your mistakes. Overall the system they have in place is a good one when it comes to how you gain and lose LP. MMR

I'd be on board with this too.

If you do good and drop then you should easily win your next game. and when you lose 1 game then win 1 game, sometimes your mmr can actually go up. making it beneficial

Happens to everyone. I've lost games where I've had more than 20 kills and only 5-6 deaths while doing more objective damage than my entire team combined.

No matter how good someone is, they won't have a 100% winrate given enough games played. The only exception might be some really cheesy duo combos with a carry in the jungle and a support in mid / top lane.

People seem to forget that assists and vision score is also factored into your ranks. So if you're warding/counter-warding and assisting in fights your grade will go up.

Also, people who boost their friends (extremely common) are abusing the system as well, they just have to have a smurf to do it, which (with the exp required to level up as well as the ranked cap down from 30 to 25) isn't terribly difficult to acquire, especially now that you dont have to spend IP/BE on runes. Those kinds of people abuse the system all the time.

I would much rather see a system that says, "oh, you did well even though you lost, let's mitigate the LP you lose/have 2-3 LP for your efforts"

It seems asinine to pair a decent player with players who can't perform as well and then say "OH WELL YOU LOST"

Everyone has bad games, as shown by your own match history (you have plenty of games where you go negative). Most of the time when you lose games with a good score it is because you didn't translate your lead into a win, meaning that you do indeed deserve to lose lp. If you want to win more often you should learn how to carry instead of complaining that you couldn't carry.

so you're saying that one person is responsible for a win? If my teammates all make poor decisions, or even one poor decision, that's somehow my fault?

One person can carry a lot of baggage, one of my favorite games was won while the score was 43-26 and I had 16 of our kills. Sure not every game is winnable, but if you focused on how to win instead of complaining about losing you would win a lot more.

Also again you are the bad teammate plenty of times, everyone has bad games. Stop acting like every game is you trying to 1v9.

you're missing the point

No I get the point, you think that because you had a good game that you should get lp. That isn't how the game works, you want lp then carry the game.
