Stop getting butthurt over banned new champs

If it's ranked and it's the first day a champs been released, I believe it's more toxic for you to play a new champ in ranked (especially if you are gold or below).

Both sides of this have good points, which is why I think it average out to this:

"Let people ban what they want. When bans are over, let them play what they want. No one gets to dictate what someone else does or doesn't do outside of the decision to ban something or play it yourself."

I love this idea, but people are way too selfish for this to work.

I think that Riot should circumvent the entire problem by running one-for-all for the first day or two after the champion gets released and then maybe again when they go on free-week rotation.

Except riot themselves says you can't play rotational champs because the experience you gained from playing them while free is obviously not going to be enough. If that is the stance they've taken then it should apply here as well.

Another stance they've taken, however, is that you should always be able to use content you've earned. This is why reworks are allowed, new purchases are allowed, and, frankly, why while you need to HAVE enough champions to play ranked, you don't need to have played a lot of games on those champions (or any, really).

The no free rotation is a compromise, definitely, but I think Riot wants to be sure players can always use content they've earned in whatever mode the want to play.

I really like this. It might not be what you're saying, but how I interpret it is this.

Let's say someone is playing Yasuo support. You are the ADC. You've never played with a Yasuo support before and you don't feel comfortable playing with one now. You believe you'll feed uncontrollably with one because you just won't be on the same page. You ban it-- that's your choice. You're using your only ban on it because you believe banning that single champion will increase your chances of winning the most.

But if they lock in Ahri support, that's their choice. You can leave the lobby if you really are not feeling it, but trolling or feeding or saying "Screw this I'm going mid?" These aren't acceptable. They got a right to play what they feel confident playing in. Play around it to the best of your abilities.

BASICALLY. As long as what you do is always for the sole purpose of trying to win, it should be okay. Banning a teammates pick because you think they'll feed isn't cool. If anything you're just gonna make them choose someone they're even less confident with, making them feed harder. In the previous example it was to prevent you from feeding. Playing something like Brand jungle to troll isn't okay either. But if you really think it'll work whether because you're a Brand main or it counters someone or whatever, that's fine. As long as it's to increase your chance of winning it's k.

You got it 100%, although frankly you CAN ban a pick if you think they'll perform poorly. Maybe my support is showing Darius into Zyra/Caitlyn, and I know he'll just get poked down. If he then picks Ahri or Garen, so be it. I had my chance to influence the game, and I can't control his picks, so I'll try to make it work.

On the other hand, they could have played it on the PBE, or have played her in blinds (and against her). But if someone's really wanting to play this new champ, then blinds is where to go.

Even if you played it on pbe that's not enough experience to play at whatever level you're in. Gold and below you probably aren't generally good enough as a player to have gotten her down to play against others of your level and above that you could probably win against lower divisions with a handicap like that but not people of your skill level.

I mean idc if people play it or not, ranked or norms. I just think people should lower their expectations. Stop expecting to be able to play the one champ that 9 other people also want to play. Don't you see it coming???? People still get butthurt over it, knowing that it's gonna be that way. It's stupidly insane.

I personally play new champs in rank all the time (went really well with kai'sa XD) but... i cant really say you are wrong. From my point of view, i didnt yet get any bad games with kai'sa, so its to my advantage to keep playing her. But you dont know that, and you cant take the risk of ruining your game for someone you dont know and will not learn to know.

so even tho i will keep playing her and get kinda dissapointed if you ban her if i already said i wanted to play her. I cant really blame you since you still are in the right.

I never ban teammate's champions unless by accident (not paying attention).

If I purposely ban someone's champion, I am fully prepared for the consequences.

Look at it this way. You ban something that someone wants. You say, "I don't give a shit". How does that help you? How does that motivate the other person to play "normally" when you've decided that your own motivations > theirs?
